We paid nearly £1000 for two nights at this hotel. When we went to pay for the extras at the end of our stay they had added over £100 in service charges that they led us to believe were for cleaning the room! At no point did they state these were optional. Some they knocked off at the hotel whilst we were there as a "token of goodwill" still without advising that they were optional. We were given a printed receipt of what we were expecting to pay on the understanding that the total showing on the receipt would be less the £50 deposit taken on arrival. When we got home on checking our barclaycard they had added all the fees back on and charged us over £150 more than the agreed total. After serval arguments they took the fees off again and said it was "human error". However the member of staff had physically taken the fees off on the computer and printed out the receipt. When we were gone she must have physically added them again. I have since read other reviews and other people have had the same issues. PLEASE READ ALL THE REVIEWS. We had issues with heating, hot water, breakfast, no tea and coffee in the room and I could go on.... This is not a 5 star hotel and the management is seriously bad, arrogant and think they above dealing with complaints.

Having booked this hotel very last minute, we were greeted very well by the lady at reception. She was very helpful and the location is great. Our room was small but nice but however we we went out for dinner and on our return at 11.20 we thought we would have a nightcap at the bar as the sign outside said closes at 12am. However when we walked in it was empty and we asked if we could get a drink we were told he had already taken last orders !! We only came back for a nightcap as we saw the sign early so really feel this be addressed as it’s misleading for residents.
wonderful hidden gem

This intimate hotel has the most attentive service one could hope to find. The room, large, beautiful and included a private patio seating area and greenery all around. The location was perfect for walking to Bond Street shops. Wonderful restaurants around as well. But, the staff even outshined all of this. John Hennessy, the manager, was ever-present. He even walked us several blocks to assure we got to the correct Pharmacy that was to perform our Covid tests, ( which he also set up), for our departure. He had wonderful recommendations for a wine store and meals, all while keeping a most watchful eye on the front. He corrected, without our knowledge, a snafu that our travel agent had made, which resulted in a wonderful tour of London in a private car for us. The price of the room was very fair and it included breakfast as well. Located on a side street near the Ritz, it felt very safe and was very clean and inviting while feeling most British and current at the same time. The artwork was extraordinary and the bar was beautiful. No room for improvement, here.

I honestly can’t reconcile the below bad reviews, it doesn’t feel like they were talking about the same hotel. We booked for 1 night just for a little weekend break - really just a base for us to do some eating and drinking around the city. I thought, particularly for the price, it was a really nice hotel. It’s not old and poorly maintain - the style is antiquated and very Old London. The rooms were nicely appointed, nice bathrooms, nice showers and very clean. Really comfortable and well thought out, plenty of plugs, lots of wardrobe space! My only negative comment would be having to ask for an iron - but that’s really my own fault for not checking on arrival! Whoops. The staff were really exceptional and attentive. Best check-out experience I’ve ever had in London, quick and efficient and helped us with a cab. Couldn’t ask for more! Enjoyed the bar too! Very comfortable for a quick drink - wish we’d booked for afternoon tea when we saw it come out!!!
