Coming from the cold weather of New York, i was greeted with a warm hospitality from Tati. She is a definition of great customer service. Very friendly. Keep up the great work! We will definitely stay again because of her.

Sonesta Hotel LAX

Reviewed 11 march, 2023

We stayed one night between flights. This is a great hotel close to the airport. Clean, comfortable and staff are very helpful. I will stay again! They provide a 24 hr shuttle, that is hard to find with a lot of hotels.

Our stay at Sonesta was amazing. The front desk manager Ms. Tati was very nice and made our trip feel like a welcome back home. She made sure we were all accommodated for and taken care of , She should probably get a raise or just run the place haha, Thank you Tati.

This was my first time at Sonesta. I am a Marriott & Hilton Member. I stay in hundreds of hotels every year and have stayed at all the major hotels in the LAX area. I would rate this hotel a true 5 Star. From arrival step everything outstanding Valet, Bellman, Front Dest, Housekeeping, Airport Transportation, to the Restaurants and Bar! The public areas are Beautiful and well maintained. The guest rooms are beautifully appointed. The hotel is among the quietest of the vast majority of hotels I have stayed in, along with very comfortable beds and luxurious bedding... making the sleep quality some of the Very Best I have experienced at any Hotel/Resort! This hotel exceeds any other hotel in the LAX area in every aspect!

Almost a 'shocking' stay

We visited this hotel for a one-night stopover between flights. We had no intentions to use any facilities on site. Upon arrival at LAX, we tried to find the courtesy shuttle bus stop for the hotel. But there isn't one. At least not at the two terminals we tried. There were bus stops listed for other hotels, but not ours. Eventually we came across another couple who had slightly more information than us and between us we waved down the bus, that doesn't seem to pull over unless the driver knows he is dropping off there or someone flags him down. The bus was totally full very quickly. Other people getting on complained that they had waited for over an hour for a bus that is meant to come every 30 minutes. We did consider walking to the hotel but couldn't find a safe walking route. It was an unnecessary stressful start to our visit. Would it be too much to have a sign like the other hotels? This is not a brand-new hotel by the way. As an airport hotel, a lot of guests will be people flying in from other areas - so it should be obvious that clear signage is needed for those who don't know the airport layout. Apparently that was too much to ask for in this case. The hotel website instructions do not make it clear either. Upon arrival, there was a large queue for check in that took almost 40 minutes to clear. It was very disappointing that staff took so long to help people in a very busy airport hotel. The room was very large and spacious. It seemed to have good soundproofing both internally and to the airport nearby. The bed was a great size and very comfortable. We both slept really well despite not being able to have a full night because of the delay getting to the hotel, checking in and then our early flight the next morning. That said, there were issues with this place. The bathroom was quite dirty and had clearly not had a deep clean in a while. It was just generally grubby and also had mould / mildew in places. The room just seemed a bit tired and dated. When looking for a plug socket, I found an extension cord on the bed against the mattress that was broken in places and had exposed wiring (see photo). How can that be allowed in LA in 2023? I didn't feel safe with this being against the mattress at all. Checkout was quick as it just involved putting key cards in a box. The returning shuttle bus was easy to find as it stopped right out the front and it was running quite regularly this time we were told. It's a convenient hotel for its location but there are so many others nearby (that also have their shuttle bus clearly advertised) that I would probably try another hotel next time before coming back here.
