Nice place to stay in Los Angeles

We've stayed here for 3 nights and it was a pretty good stay! I was expecting something terrible to happen after reading lots of reviews on the Internet, but the check-in was super smooth with great customer service. We're given a room on the top floor and with a good view of Torrance. The beds and pillows were comfy and it was extremely quiet (white noise from the distant highways doesn't count). The room seems to be a little dated and the painting might have to be redone sometime soon, but overall it looks nice, especially, when you get back to the hotel in the middle of the night and get out in the morning. Gated parking is free for IHG members and you're also getting a drink voucher during the check-in. Wi-Fi signal was strong enough to watch 4K streaming services. I would stay here again in case I'll be back in LA.
Have been told not to stay - but keep trying

I visit the Torrance area multiple times per year. My companies US HQ is nearly next door to the Holiday Inn property. Despite it being "next door", co-workers have told me they refuse to stay - saying it is substandard. This stay these two days have a pervasive "Sewage" smell in the room. Another guest who was visiting my company had the same complaint. The hotel is dated, the staff is very nice, the rooms are as clean as could be ... but that smell. Finally, ordered some chicken wings - want to say they were the best I've ever had! Such a mixed emotion stay. Not sure I will stay there again - but they are trying.
Good stay, minor flaws

We stayed here for one night. Check in was easy and the person checking us in very nice. Parking fee waived due to being IHC member. When we got in the elevator it reeked of marijuana. I cant fault the hotel as it seems to be a problem everywhere marijuana is legal. Good thing is the room smelled clean. The room itself was clean, the beds comfortable, plenty of pillows. The furniture has a few dated and worn pieces. All in all the room still looked ok. The AC was efficient but a wall mounted unit, so can be a bit loud. Rated it a 3 for a couple reasons. Dated furniture, stain on carpet, found drawings of male anatomy parts that appeared on room mirror with steam ( cant blame hotel for prior guest behavior) but it shows lack of cleaning, some hairs on the plate holding toiletries. Would i stay again, yes, just hope they step up their game a bit.
Stay at Holiday Inn Los Angeles Gateway - Torrance

The hotel advertised amenities such as a restaurant, bar, fitness center and pool. On arrival I was informed the restaurant only served take out and the bar was only open until 8:30pm. I was also told there was no daily maid service. The room was clean but dated. definitely nothing special here. I passed by the restaurant several times during my stay and there was never anyone there. There was no staff, no signage no menus. No evidence it was open for business. The bar was the same way. It was very small, it could seat about for people but was never open. This was evidenced by a drop down gate that covered the bottles of alcohol on the shelf behind the bar. The fitness center was closed and even it if were open it only had a couple of bikes, a treadmill and about 6 dumbells. I did not check the pool. Last, I was told I would be charged $10 a day for parking but on checking out it was $12 a day. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel was that the staff was very friendly. Compared to the other options in the area it is simply not worth the price and the amenities it advertises are misleading. In my experience it is the only hotel in the area that charges for parking. I would highly recommend staying elsewhere as there are better options in the area in the same price range.
Ok Stay for One Night

My friend and I drove down to L.A. from San Francisco. We were in need of a decent place to stay. We booked last minute. This hotel was close to our activities so we decided to stay here. Kyle, at the Front desk, provided phenomenal customer service during check in. Our parking fee was waived because I am a IHG member. The room was spacious but somewhat old. The room and the lobby was clean. The bed was perfect. The television was rather small. There was a refrigerator in the room. Overall, it was a okay stay for one night, especially for the price.
