Historic hotel

Reviewed 28 july, 2020

Old and most of the stuff just doesn’t work. They are trying to get it updated but I just don’t see this place coming together. At least not without attempting to update it on a large scale. It is convenient to the convention center though.

Our wedding at the Mayfair

Reviewed 9 may, 2020

We are so happy that we had our wedding at the Mayfair Hotel! From the beginning, Spencer and Rasean were so wonderful to work with for coordinating our on-site wedding details and setting up our hotel block, respectively. Spencer helped coordinate meetings, tastings, walk-throughs, and accommodated several other requests to help us plan and communicate with each of our vendors. He worked so well with our coordinator leading up to and on the day of our wedding. Our food, from the in-house LOCALA kitchen, was delicious and we were also able to have custom drinks for our bar menu that were absolutely amazing. As expected, there were a few hiccups on the day of our wedding, but we were so grateful that Spencer and the management team were able to work with my coordinator to resolve all issues seamlessly. Last, but certainly not least, the Mayfair is absolutely a breathtaking venue. Recently remodeled, the hotel is gorgeous and has spectacular areas for photos (and just to enjoy the view!), including a rooftop patio and bar, an atrium with plenty of natural light, a gorgeous ballroom, and art installations throughout the hotel. It made the perfect backdrop to our wedding celebration. We felt so lucky to snag the first wedding in this space- and it went so perfectly! We definitely recommend the Mayfair Hotel for weddings and events-- we wish we could do it all over again! -Rachel and Joe, January 11, 2020 (Photo credit: Erin Marton Photography)

Great place to stay!

I have been stayed many times at The Mayfair Hotel going back some 5 years while the restoring and remodeling was getting started and progressed through the years. The building and lobby and bar is marvelous a work of art in their selfs. The Gallery's Art wonderful to see and enjoy - much of the old LA and history is everywhere. The rooms are pleasant and accommodating. The location is perfect for visiting LA new and old town. I am an 80 years young man Photographer and Wood art professional who loves the Hotel. They take good care of me and all my needs while I'm there. May Lady Partner also loves coming to The Mayfair with me! I highly recommend the Hotel. Service by all the staff and attendants has be wonderful!.

Party + No stopping it = No sleep

Reviewed 2 march, 2020

I recently stayed at the Mayfair on a business trip for one night. Worked all day and had to get up early. When I checked in, the woman that checked me in could care less who I was or even looked at me. She put me in a room right next to the elevators, which were loud as hell. So I went back to get another room. I dealt with a second woman at the front desk who was equally uninterested in helping me or communicating. At this point, I'm not feeling very welcome or stoked to stay in this 'nice hotel'. The new room was kinda funky and not really what I expected for what I was paying but was too tired to deal with it. Well this change in rooms would prove to be a disaster. I went to bed at 9:30pm and awoke at 10:30 to a loud group in the hall. I brushed it off and tried to go back to sleep. At 11:15 it was apparent that this group was right across the hall from me having a raging party. I opened the door and hotel security was already there to fix it. Yay, sleep again. Nope. This continued for 2 more hours with the party getting bigger, louder and filling the halls. I called the front desk to change rooms and they couldn't because they were full they said. Their efforts to stop this party were so weak. I heard one security guard say: "I don't give a f%#& what these people do in the room" as he left for the 3rd time. Awesome. By 2:30 the party was finally dispersed into the hallway and in front of my door only to yell, argue and scream for 30+ minutes before finally leaving. Fell asleep by 3:30am. Had to be up at 7am. When I left, I informed the front desk of my horrible night and they seemed clueless that this event happened. They offered to comp my parking. Not good enough I said, so they took 1/2 off my bill, but kept the parking on it. Needless to say, this was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at matched with the apathy of the staff. The room was tiny and just lackluster, and for $300 for one night, totally not worth it. All that aside, the fact that they didn't shut this party down the first time around baffles me. There were 30 people in a room made for 2 people. Stay at your own risk, but hey, if you want to go party and not sleep, then this hotel is for you... the staff won't give a damn either way.
