USC Family Visit

First time staying at this property and most likely my last. People who worked here are very nice and trying their best, so thanks to everyone who works here. The property is just so dated. Start with the room, I got "upgraded" to the 26th floor on the green side and the room reminded me of an Embassy Suites Hotel room. The only thing upgraded in the room was the shower head and even that didn't work properly. The room had a great outside view, but that was it. I was really disappointed in the "upgrade". However I must say, the bed was really comfortable, which is usually the case with Westin's. Due to my "elite" status, I was to get a "free" upgraded breakfast each morning. I got a "free" breakfast one of the three mornings. The staff was very busy, so I didn't complain. Work out area was nice and they have 3 Peloton's. Location was OK, I walked to the Metro and there seems to be a fair amount of construction going on near by, hopefully it will improve the overall area. Bottom line, until they do some major renovations there are many other better properties to stay at.
4 STARS for "possibility" and just 1 star for "Execution" - Are the hotel staff/ Ken Pilgrim listening??

Hotel itself is good and it is possible to give them a much higher rating, here's why:
Centrally located in downtown LA. Largest hotel in LA (but you cannot get lost because they have an ingenious color coded system to their elevators). MUCH respected history.
Cute elevators themselves can be an attraction (reminds one of Marriott Marquis in NY, now discontinued)
Terrace on the 3rd floor has a fantastic view of down skyscrapers...
Here is why they did NOT get a good rating, and prospective customers should pay attention:
* parking is atrociously expensive. They dinged my car (but that's possible at any hotel) and I won't hold the hotel responsible for it.
* Breakfast at the "LakeView Bistro" is expensive at $29 for scrambled eggs, toast & Orange juice.. but the quality of the food was meh.. (not hot, toast was soggy)
* Even a lower rated property would offer free coffee or bottled water for its Elite guests - they said "we're not doing that"
*Tim at the Lobby bar was a gracious host... but Viet at the same Lobby bar put in so much ice on the drink, that one had to look hard to find the drink in the "drink"
A focused management that is in touch with customers can return this unique property to its glory days....
Friendly and approachable service

Was in town for a friend’s getaway over the weekend. I found the hotel staff to be really friendly and professional. There was a hiccup with my reservation (mainly my fault for misunderstanding the terms and conditions), so I concreted the Front Office Manager Mario Castillo who was extremely kind and understanding. He worked with me and quickly offered me a solution and I could not be more appreciative of him.
The entire hotel staff that interacted with was professional and friendly - the housekeeper, dormem, front desk, at your service agents and bell staff.
I am very glad I chose to stay at the Westin Bonaventure in LA, and I would definitely stay again!

Westin is a name you usually book with pride knowing you will get a great hotel experience. This is not the case here . I won’t be booking here in future . They really need to redo this entire hotel . It’s dark , dreary and dated . Lots of areas under construction also
Poor hospitality services

Really bad hospitality services. Overpriced guest parking. Didn’t ask to help carry my family’s luggage upon arrival. Front desk staff paid no attention when we checked in. ALSO there was a whole movie film crew blasting music in the lobby in the evenings and they blocked both cross streets so we couldn’t even get into the drop off lot during our stay.. and the hotel didn’t even warn us about the film crew -_-
BUT I will say the staff at the restaurant is good. the only redeeming part of this entire experience.
