Gorgeous hotel, stunning location and warm hosts!
We booked for two evenings and was welcomed with a kind greeting! Our evening massages were scheduled and they were incredible, relaxing and a fabulous way to start our stay at the Belfry. We utilized the outdoor jacuzzi, the indoor pool and the sauna each day of our visit. Loved the jacuzzi!! Breakfast was delicious, crepes, eggs, fruit salad, loads of different breads, butters and jams/nutella with pressed orange juice. We had ordered the dinner prepared by Le chef Raymond Nordin which was served in our room for the second evening and it was simply beautiful!! We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel!
Nothing beats a classy hands-on owner!
It always helps that the general manager is not only the owner but that he is always around with his co-manager wife and happy to make your stay worth every cent you paid. The hotel mirrors the owner's personal taste and style. It is simple yet sophisticated. And when Laurent greets you when you check-in, you will feel immediately that you chose the right place to stay. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great location with ample parking. After a long day spent in our Blessed Virgin's various sites around Lourdes, there is no better place to rest and recharge. Thank you so much Laurent and Catherine for your warm hospitality. Our kids will join us when we return next time. I am 101% sure they will enjoy your hotel as much as we did!
Great potential, but cheaply finished and owner has a bad attitude
We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a trip to cycle in the Pyrenees. On a positive note nearly all the staff were incredible from the moment we arrived and helped us with bike and wine storage. The hotel is in the process of being renovated, so now comes the down side! The rooms are finished quite cheaply, so although the beds are big and spacious, the rooms are not. There are no towel hooks so wet towels have to go on the floor and the shower overflowed. Our room seemed to have been finished quickly, the phone lines did not work, the fixture above the ceiling light came down and the hairdryer caught fire ~10 seconds after I tried to turn it on. We went to the ‘spa’ on Day 2 and unfortunately it also was not a great experience, we were unable to get in the hot tub as it had dirt sink to the bottom and the water was not clear (not great in a time of COVID when Hygene is so important!) I reported all of these issues to the manager (Laurent) and requested to be moved to a room with a few less problems. The response? He accused me of purposefully trashing the room (why would I do this?) and keeping the hairdryer on for too long this causing it to catch fire. Had he spoken to his night watchman, or checked CCTV he would have clearly seen I had left the hotel the evening before (after reporting the fire in the hairdryer) with wet hair as I was unable to dry it. I imagine the phone line was not ever installed and the light fixing was most likely a bit of glue coming unstuck. Laurent then proceeded to threaten me that I wrote a bad review on the internet he would apply a €300 charge to my card. I stayed at the hotel ~2 weeks ago giving ample time for any legitimate charges related to room/food to be subtracted, so If indeed Laurent holds his threat true I will post a picture of the transaction so future guests are aware. Such a shame as this hotel has such great potential, but unfortunately, when a customer has a bad experience they are not willing to resolve the issue and instead use intimidation so only positive reviews are on the internet. Since writing the review I have read the most recent reviews in booking.com and can see that I am not the only person to have this experience. People can also read (google translate) Laurent’s responses to the reviews which give a clear flavour of his persona.
A delightful stay in a charming hotel
I recently stayed here for three nights, and the hotel was lovely. The sitting room and bar area is bright and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They happily made restaurant recommendations and reservations for us, and assisted with finding our way around the area. The rooms were cozy and tidy. They offer breakfast each morning, and it was a lovely spread from eggs and breakfast meats to cheese and cold cut platters, cereals, yogurt, breads, and all the rest. We didn't take advantage of the spa facilities -- too much to do on a short trip -- but i imagine they are quite nice. Poking around, it was clear they are renovating and the floors in progress looked very chic. Would highly recommend. It's in a great locations. It's just a few blocks walk to the grotto and churches, and an even closer one to a couple of the restaurants.
Fabulous Lourdes Hotel
We’ve just returned home after spending 3 nights over the weekend in this very comfortable hotel. We were allocated a room on the fourth floor without a balcony but with great views of the Basilica. Fresh white sheets and clean room and bathroom were appreciated with constant hot water. The bed was large and comfortable too with wardrobe space provided. The toilet and bathroom were separate which is a good idea in itself however some washing facilities and bidet within the toilet would have been ideal as hand washing then had to take place in the bathroom- however we realised that space must have been limited. Breakfast was a relaxed affair with fresh local produce available and organic fresh crusty bread - great that there was no pressure to rush. The distance to the Grotto is very easy to walk and having chosen a time out of season - was extremely peaceful and quiet. We used the pool facilities and the outdoor jacuzzi and were blessed with fabulous weather - 20/21 degrees and full sunshine- not the norm for February I’m sure. Towel and robes were very generously provided. Whilst there we drove up into the Pyrenees- very easily accessible from the hotel. Places we would suggest were Pont D’Espagne ,Lac De Gaube, Cauterets , Luz St Sauveur to name but a few - just spectacular in the brilliant sunshine with the snow peaked mountains. All in all a great stay - thank you Catherine and Laurent for your hospitality.
