My new wife and I had our wedding ceremony and reception here along with a suite for the night. The whole day was amazing. The staff that were with us on the day were all amazing and went above and beyond to make our day so special. The food was amazing and the bar staff and waiting staff were always smiling and happy to help. If you are considering Ivy House as a wedding venue, I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you everyone.

The Barn restaurant Christmas Day £80pp

The family room was clean and spacious no real complaint. Dogs where made very welcome. The Barn dining room looked very clean tidy and pleasant for lunch. Sadly the meal itself was horrendous. One expects fresh Turkey with all the trimmings it actually seemed more like prepared Turkey round and thin slices. Not good. The sprouts, carrots and broccoli were un edible due to being so hard. No condiments on the table, you were asked if you wanted any. One was given a choice of dessert I chose Assiette of Christmas desserts 1 macaroon/pavlova cheese cake and small Christmas pudding which must have been straight out of the fridge very cold. Never had cold Christmas pudding in my life. No cream or anything. Didn’t wait for coffee by this time my husband and I had enough and left. NOT RECOMMEND. Boxing Day checking out. On Boxing Day checking out The chef was asked by heather receptionist was the Turkey off the bone he said yes I totally disagree. Why were the vegetables raw they came from I think he said Valencia poor poor excuse. Anybody that was there 4pm Christmas Day I’d like to hear of your experience for sure I wouldn’t recommend The barn at the Ivy house Hotel. at £80pp poor poor standard. Will not return

Nice hotel, ideally located to Lowestoft. The room was nice, clean and well presented. Double was comfy. Bathroom was clean and of a good size. Small TV in room with Freeview channels. Did not use the bar or restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast was lovely and fresh. Had the full English, freshly cooked and taste great. Cereal, fruits and juice available as well. Staff very professional and polite.

Lovely weekend break

Very nice hotel in quiet location, we stayed for a weekend break and were impressed by the hotel. Have to say all staff we encountered were extremely helpful and looked after us very well. The food was particularly good, enjoyed evening meal on the Saturday evening and was exceptional, the pork I chose was the the most tender I have ever had. Service was also very good. Only minor gripe was the room was slightly tired and could have done with a large TV for the room size. That aside I highly recommend.

Lovely friendly place to stay

Despite this being a Travelzoo deal, we were warmly welcomed and given a courtyard room. The room was a good size with giant bed, two chairs and a table. Every member of staff we came in contact with were friendly and you got the feeling everybody enjoyed working there. The restaurant offered a carvery on the day we arrived (Sunday), but closed at 19.00. After that it was a la carte with a later closing time. The food was superlative (we were told the chef was Michelin starred....). The hotel is nicely placed to explore the Suffolk/Norfolk border. From the hotel, you can walk to Oulton Broad. The town has a nice selection of coffee shops (and a plus for me - a Record shop!). A river cruise can be booked here (we did this). Lowestoft was visited (no need to spend too much time here) as was Great Yarmouth (better) and Gorleston Beach (lovely).
