Nice place to stay
Opinión escrita el 25 de novembre de 2022
We stayed one night on a road trip. The hotel is situated in the southern part of Lufkin in an area with a couple of other hotels and close to US-59. Check in was fast and efficient and our room was clean and reasonably quiet, although some noise was heard from the surrounding rooms. The included breakfast was the usual Holiday Inn standard, although restocking of some items was slow. We found this hotel rather basic, but great for a short stay.

Oasis in East Texas

I really enjoyed my stay at this Hotel. Maggie was extremely patient and very helpful. She recommended a local Restaurant that was out of this world good. This hotel reminds me so much of a castle, not that I've ever been to a castle, but it makes me think of one. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Coffee was available when I checked in and fresh coffee was waiting for me the next morning. The breakfast was good, my only complaint was I only got to stay 1 night. I have to laugh, after I write this I am scrolling down and I find questions to answer. The first one asked if the hotel has a heated pool. People its July in Texas, you better believe it is heated.

What happened? The staff used to be great.

I arrived early hoping for an early check-in but the hotel was full to capacity the night prior. No big deal. I came back at 330p, after check-in which was 3p, and my room was still not ready. If the hotel is sold out, then plan accordingly. Don’t inconvenience your paying guests. People were not milling about the hotel waiting for a room. It was just me standing in the lobby. Both front desk agents advised they would text or call me when my room was ready. I didn’t hear from either one so I called at 530p and she responded I was just about to call you. Since I could not get into my room to get ready for a scheduled dinner at 6p, I was late to it. The next morning we had breakfast in the lobby at 915a, and the attendant refused to make coffee because it was the last hour. The hotel used to offer coffee all day in the lobby. Before you use covid as an excuse, you don’t have mask mandates and serve a hot breakfast. So, no coffee while I was waiting for my room, no coffee while I was having breakfast, and no regular coffee in my room once I was checked in. I asked the front desk to send some up to my room while at breakfast. He said he would try. I appreciate that. I returned to my room and found I only have decaf pods, and called the front desk about my gripes of a late check-in and no regular coffee, asking if he could make a regular pot for the lobby. Of course he said no. He mentioned they were expecting more in the next delivery. I spoke with the housekeepers after this and was advised there was no regular coffee in the hotel, I called down to the front desk to reconfirm our conversation. He then proceeds to say he never said that insinuating that I was lying. When I returned to my room later that evening and spoke with the young lady at the front desk, she said the EXACT REASON about the shipment that was given to me earlier in the day. I guess that makes him a lair? I don’t appreciate being gas lighted. However, there was regular coffee in the room which I do appreciate. I love the remodel, but the hotel amenities and especially the customer service from this particular gentleman have gone downhill in the 8 years I’ve been coming to this hotel. Additionally, when I returned to my room after my breakfast just now, my key cards have been deactivated. It’s only 10a. Was this retaliation for my previous complaints? Check out out is at noon and you kept me waiting 2.5 hours after check in to get into my room. These tactics would have gotten me into a room earlier on Saturday by sending a clear message that guests have over stayed their welcome. I’ve never had so many issues than I have had with this hotel. This was my hotel of choice when staying in Lufkin, but that is no longer the case. I work in corporate travel and will not in good conscience recommend this hotel.

Nice, pretty place to stay

Nice stay. Lovely girl at the desk upon check in. East Texas friendly and accommodating. Clean room, comfortable bed, nice wooded view. Loved the shower in bathroom and the toiletries. I will say that every single bathroom should have chair height toilets. This one did not and my husband and I felt like we were sitting on a child’s toilet. The breakfast was adequate except there were no cinnamon rolls, a trademark of HIE and a big reason why we stay there and not another chain. When asked, the pleasant lady in the kitchen said it was the second hour of breakfast and if she put them out and no one ate them, they would have to be thrown away. Hmm. Is that standard now at HIE? Because if I get there as late as 10 minutes of, there should still be rolls waiting. Give the leftovers to staff, for Pete’s sake. Also, there was a baby buffalo wreaking havoc above us till very late. I love children, but they need to be on the first floor, not the 4th. All in all, nice and well kept hotel, responsive and friendly desk.

Parking Lot Lights
Opinión escrita el 22 de enero de 2022
This was a very clean and well appointed hotel and if I ever have to venture back to Lufkin I'll stay here. Truly, my only complaint was the bright parking lot lights that shine in the window. There are no blackout shades/curtains and it was very hard to sleep.
