We stayed as a family of four at the Novotel Maastricht recently. As others have said it’s more basic than you’d normally expect a Novotel to be. It was also quite expensive but it was the Belgian Grand Prix the weekend we went and also an Andre Rieu concert. The location is good and feels safe, there is a bus stop outside the front of the hotel but we walked into town which took about 25 minutes. There is also a large Albert Heijn supermarket about 10-15 minutes walk away. We had an issue with the bedside reading light not switching off but a friendly and competent front of house lady came and sorted this out promptly so we could all get to sleep. All in all a good hotel, needs a bit of TLC but I would stay here again.
Welcome my chef just quit

Welcome speech sorry our chef just quit so there is not food available at nights , so you can look for restaurants close by !!! Come on guys organize your FB TEAM YOUR are not cheap and you should provide what you advertise . After that speech they try to sell you the breakfast for 21 euros not a smart move for up selling , very poor expirience for an ACCOR HOTEL
An “IBIS BUDGET” certainly; not a “NOVOTEL”

Disappointing since probably the summary of our experience. This hotel is clean and convenient but quite far away from the city center. What is annoying is the fact that it does not seem to meet all the standards of a Novotel. Let’s start with the positive points: - Air conditioning was ok despite the very high temperature outside - Breakfast was of good quality and the personnel around was nice and active But here is the list of the less favorable points which are making the experience not really; - only one person at the reception, no matter how people may be looking for assistance; getting you to wait a long time, even for a simple question or service or at any time of the day - a obvious cumbersome registration process makes the experience even longer. - only two charging stations at the hotel. Based on the number of cars running on electricity in the Netherlands, this is clearly insufficient; especially when one spot is used by a petrol car. Knowing that the reception asks for your license plate number at the arrival and many people complained about the fact that this car was improperly parked, it was obvious that the management had no intention to play the police on their privately owned parking… - no extra towels available for the swimming pool for some obscure question of laundry issue which seems more like a good excuse to save money. At least, tell it on the website so that we know that we have to bring our own towels… - only one lift for all the customers (and one for the service exclusively). The problem is that on Sunday morning, that lift was broken, forcing people to climb the staircase with luggages up to the 4th floor. When asked if it was possible to use the other lift, the answer was clearly NO! So laundry carts are more important than customers. - the restaurant was also closed for other obscure reasons. So I would suggest, Accor group to have a serious review on how this hotel works as it seems that profitability is the only viable element.
Not a 4 Star Hotel - Refuse Room 124

Initial impressions were poor having to wait in a queue for 30 minutes to check in. Allocated Room 124 which on checking Floor Diagram was significantly smaller than others. It was a very dark room with insufficient lighting. The carpet was threadbare, the fridge not working & the air con temperamental. Noisy due to being next to Service Room plus external door on landing being left open with noise of air con compressors. Oddly no hooks in bathroom to hang towels. No free bottled water which is something we get at every hotel / guest house. Whilst touring the Low Countries have stayed at 7 Hotels. Novotel Maastricht was by far the most expensive but the only one that was poor. Appreciate it was a busy time due to the Andre Rieu concerts but the hotel is of a poor standard. Breakfast was below average a positive being a male waiter who was helpful & always smiling (opposite to rest of hotel staff). Normally would have gone straight back to Reception to request a change of room. However whilst in check in queue others were told that the Hotel was full & no changes could be made. In summary we have stayed at basic guest houses with far better facilities. Recommend look elsewhere for accommodation if staying in this lovely town.

We stayed here a few weeks back for the Andre Rieu concert. Some weeks before our arrival, we needed help with our booking so filled out the online contact form twice, but didn't get a reply from the hotel. Really disappointed with this as it could have saved us a lot of stress and money. On arrival we had an excellent welcome from the reception staff and they were very helpful with loads of information. The hotel was clean and our room was fine,we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.Would have liked to stay longer. Special mention to the restaurant staff,Appreciated the nice food and customer service.
