Hotel was closed with a chain over the door.

In spite of having booked just that morning and paid in advance, arrived to find the hotel closed with a chain over the door and graffiti on the exterior. Another guest was standing outside equally puzzled. We eventually found an email directing us to a nearby property but not before we’d booked alternative accommodations. Now to see about a complete refund.

My flight and cruise was cancelled due to Covid. Everyone is going through a tough time. Most hotels gave me refund despite the no cancellation policy, this hotel refused. Don't give to a hotel that takes advantage of a pandemic.
Perfect position and staff

We chose this hotel because of its position close to the Gran Via. It couldn’t have been better, in a quietish square and within walking distance of all the attractions in Madrid. Visited Plaza Mayor, the Sunday flea market, to the cathedral and palace, botanical gardens also. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, both before we arrived and also after we arrived home. The room had everything needed and we also had small balcony on to the square. The breakfast buffet was lovely too, juices, pastries, cheese, hams, and also a hot selection. Couldn’t have been better. Would certainly stay again. ( building work going on next door but this didn’t cause a problem)
Great place to stay

We spent 5days here, very central to the historic part of the city. The room was lovely, overlooking the plaza. The staff were exceptional, they helped us so much: organised and printed out train tickets for Seville, hotel booked and printed for Seville, booked Red Tour bus tickets(so no queue), booked tickets for the Bernabau stadium, booked a flamenco evening which was great. We are in our 70s, so any thing tech and in Spanish was difficult for me. The whole ethos of the hotel is lovely, eco friendly and health conscious. There's even free teas and coffee in the reception area, very welcome after a long trek. It states Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend. We would certainly agree with that

We stayed here for three nights. The rooms are super clean, staff are friendly and buffet breakfast was lovely. The hotel is centrally located and therefore you can walk to all the major attractions. We also rang the hotel in advance of our arrival and they kindly arranged collection from the airport and return for our party of four. This made the entire stay so easy and relaxed. The staff in reception are excellent and will go that extra mile to ensure you have a great stay. Rooms are spacious and modern with excellent multi point showers! We will stay here again without hesitation..
