Enjoyable stay at clean, tidy hotel
We had 9 nights here in the small window of time when you could get a holiday in July 2020 before the UK government went all medieval on travelling to Spain after a minor surge in cases of coronavirus on the mainland. Considering the coronavirus situation in spring/summer 2020, the hotel was excellent and the staff were supremely helpful and accommodating. When we arrived the place had not long opened for the summer season and we were told only 6 of the 160 apartments were occupied, though more people came in as the week went on. Therefore no issues social distancing from other guests. Staff were excellent, clearly explaining the sensible and understandable precautionary rules to do with face masks, cleaning the rooms and serving food at the buffet area for breakfast. One of the serving staff, Cinthia, was especially kind to us, going out of her way to make sure we were happy, her excellent English more than compensating for our pathetic basic Spanish. Our room was clean and perfectly suitable for a young family. The pool facilities had been upgraded from our previous visit last summer and now incorporated an entirely age-appropriate couple of water slides for kids (our kids are 3 and 5). They had a ball. The pool was clean, the hotel was quiet when we were there and indeed at times I thought this must be what’s it’s like to be filthy rich and have your own private villa, so deserted was the place. It’s conveniently located for nearby restaurants (we’d recommend a pizza from Paparazzi’s) and only maybe a 10 minute walk into the centre of town or to the beach. If you have a young family I would recommend this place. It’s not a 5-star hotel, but it’s very tidily looked after, clean, perfectly functioning and enjoyable.

Top class reception staff if u need help Philip is your man found him very helpful as all the staff. it's all about children in the playa plenty for them to do down side is prices ice cream and bar prices are over the top. rooms spotless every thing u need in the self catering app. Very quite at night yet ur in the center restaurants in the center youl be spoiled for choice. Lovely time one again but marred by grumpy barman
We have been to Cala dor Playa on a good few occasions over past few years. The apartments are perfect situated, close to all Cala dor has to offer . Cleaned daily to an extremely high standard. Have stayed in both standard and the upgraded rooms. We have found we much prefer the standard as there is a lack of storage in the upgraded rooms, smaller balcony table and no freezer, which I have never experienced in a self catering apartment. Nowhere to make/store ice nor ice creams? Animation team especially Alex and Chocolate are wonderful. So friendly and don’t force you to partake in activities if you don’t want to. Lovely reception staff, and even the cleaners are so nice. Always a “Ola” as they pass you. Moving onto the bar staff, on the whole they are extremely pleasant apart from one waiter called Rudi. We have been served by him on a several occasions over our visits and he is not the smiley person he likes to portray himself to be about the pool bar area. I speak fluent Spanish, which he obviously doesn’t know, and I clearly heard him talking about us in a derogatory manner. I did consider complaining to the management about him, and looking back wish I had. I saw someone else comment recently on Tripadvisor about Rudi, hopefully management look at these comments and take action as I’m sure it is not the type of service Cala dor Playa wish their customers to receive. The other person also stated that if you spend a lot of euros at the bar, Rudi will appear to be your best friend, if not, you’ll notice a huge difference. I totally agree.
fantastic holiday
we have just returned from a weeks holiday with my daughter son-in-law and three grandchildren. an absolutely fantastic time had by all. I would like to say a special thankyou to Rudi and his team in the dining room so friendly and efficient also to the cleaners fab job. The entertainment team did a wonderful job for all age groups. We will return to the apartments again
Great
Just returned from a week at cala dor playa. The apartments are nice modern and clean maids clean everyday, however beds are uncomfortable. Food was nice and fresh everyday. The kids buffet is great. We had thunderstorms whilst we were here it would of been nice to have seen more games/activities on for the kids during the day whilst the weather was rubbish. It wasnt a problem though just a suggestion. Swimming pool area is nice our kids loved the splash area. Cala dor itself is lovely, fab beaches, shops and restaurants just dowb the road. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would return again.
