Spa and not a Resort.

The “Spa” has good food, clean rooms and very friendly waiters! But if you are looking for fun with your family, this is not the place. We were listening to music at the pool and they told us to turn the music off. This place is not for having fun with your family like you do in Caribbean Islands. My advice, go to Cuba, Costa Rica, Mexico etc.

Very good but was expecting a bit more due to high price
Reviewed 7 march, 2022
This place is very very expensive within a Brazilian context and we were therefore expecting quite a lot. One night here (including full board) costs more than two times the Brazilian monthly minimum wage. We had a beachfront suite on the ground floor which was great because we could walk straight out and on to the beach. The interior of our room, however, was a bit disappointing. The white and beige decor was uninspired and the white plastic sofas were not a hit. The room smelled a bit moldy and both air conditioners were sometimes dripping water inside the rooms. The bathroom was good with a great shower, fluffy towels and nice toiletries. The rooms and communal areas were clean. The beach inside the resort was a bit disappointing due to the sea not being crystal clear and transparent unlike most of the other beaches in the area. However the waves are small and the water is calm and family friendly. The breakfast was good with lots of choice of both hot and cold options but the food at the buffet for lunch and dinner was okay but not more than that. There was a lot of choice but the food could have been a bit more sophisticated at times. Again, considering the prices. The room service menu was extremely limited (burger and chips, hotdog, club sandwich, ham and cheese sandwich and a couple other such options) and very slow. The kids club was very good though. There is a large children’s area with pool, toys, football pitch and lots of staff to keep the children busy. There is even the option of a children’s eating area where kids can eat with their new friends supervised by hotel staff. The live music in the evening was a real high light. It was high quality and nothing like the tourist entertainment cliches which one might have feared. The ‘safari’ is fun but it did feel a little rushed. We didn’t have time to take it all in and appreciate the surrounding nature which is truly breathtaking. The safari costs 100R$ per person. We also rented a private boat at the marina and sailed to Ilha Grande island which was amazing! We were quoted prizes between 2500R$ - 5500R$ depending on the size of the boat and duration of the trip. There is also the far cheaper option of going with a public tourist boat. Seeing the Green Coast and Ilha Grande from the sea is really special and we highly recommend it. The staff at the resort were friendly and polite but perhaps could do with more training. The resort is priced within a segment where guests expect a lot and because of that we were slightly disappointed. The rooms need improving and so does the service. Service needs to be quicker and the staff need to be taught the more refined details of dining/serving etiquette and high end service.

No toiletries provided until come again to the front desk

This place is amazing but there is a lack in the prompt attention to the guests. You could not believe, but it took to me around incredible 55 minutes to get a refill of a miserable toilet paper! The phone doesn’t work in the room, and when I went to front desk to request it, the person said they would handle to the room... and nothing! After waiting half an hour I came back to the front desk and they said it would come, but they did not apologize! They came with the toiletries about 15 min later! Hopefully I did not have a diarrhea!!! I hope they improve this matter soon!

We spent the weekend at Portobello Resort and Safari with our daughters and the weekend of terrific! The weather was perfect, calm ocean and our daughters have great time! The food is very good and you can go to a mini safari to take pictures with some animals. You have to book with front desk when you arrive or call before to the hotel. Adults can enjoy the beach and the pool as well.
