The Country Inn and Suites by Radisson, Monterey Beachfront-Marina, CA provides the perfect springboard for exploring the picturesque Monterey Bay area. Walk to Marina State Beach in about three minutes for a day of sunbathing and boogie-boarding or drive to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to meet penguins, octopuses, and otters. Cannery Row, once home to a series of sardine factories and the inspiration for one of John Steinbeck's novels, now houses restaurants, pubs, and eclectic boutiques.

Great location, poor hotel.

Come in with low expectations. Bring your own breakfast as ear plugs and you’ll have a nice stay. The location in relation to the beach was wonderful, the staff was nice enough. everything else was mediocre.

Traveler beware! This hotel is nothing short of a disaster - My wife and I stayed here (because it is a Radisson property) over two nights (May 19-21, 2021). The hotel is an over the top disgrace to the Radisson brand! The front desk staff was inconsiderate, rude and condescending. I can live with that as maybe they were having a bad day? Our issues started with the desk staff not recognizing the veterans status room upgrade advertised. Then when we asked for a first floor room (disabled vet) we were told they had none available and the second floor "would have to do". We climbed up the stairs with luggage (no elevators on the property) to room 248 only to find our way partially blocked by garbage (wet and dry - see pictures) scattered about at the top of the staircase. I'm talking about residential garbage bags overflowing on the landing and stinking like a landfill five feet from our room and window. I went to the desk to report the trash and heath/tripping hazard only to be informed that "maintenance is not working today - sorry, we'll get to it". Seriously? I took pictures as proof and walked back up and around the trash again. Then I decided to clean it up myself but couldn't as the trash cans provided nearby were also full and overflowing (again, pictures as proof). The first night was awful due to excessive noise coming from the transients wandering the property and paper thin walls. The odor from the garbage out on the landing permeated our room. The shower didn't work (again 'no maintenance available) and the dirty floors and furniture reflected an obvious lack of housekeeping services (COVID compliance?). The following morning I reported the issues to the desk only to be advised that "they'll get to it". We left for the day and upon our return the trash was not only still there but had been added to. The entry to rooms 250 and 251 was literally blocked with garbage (wet and dry) - flies were now attacking the waste with enthusiasm. Again I went to the desk and pleaded with them to get the area cleaned up - my requests fell on "Nick's" deaf ears. I was blown off and marginalized and it was apparent that our issue (just the trash, we asked for nothing else!) wasn't going to be resolved. I asked one of the security guards wandering the property about it, showed him bagged trash tossed on the grounds and he said it was not his problem, "deal with it"! I am a retired law enforcement officer and military veteran and I have to say our safety was a concern at this property. Yes, they had "security" but even they were 'thuglike' and disinterested in anything except texting on cell phones and eating chips and dropping empty bags on the ground further contributing to the trash on the property. We booked this hotel because of the Radisson name branding as we are Radisson Rewards members having stayed around the world at dozens of their properties over the years without any issues. I have only done one "negative review" in my life and it was at another (not Radisson) hotel chain property in San Francisco years ago. The trash was NEVER cleaned up during our stay. When I went to check out "Nick" (if that's his real name) refused to give me a receipt for my stay. I strongly insisted and he finally and reluctantly gave me one. I would NEVER recommend the RADISSON Country Inn and Suites in Marina (it's not in Monterey as advertised) to anyone.. ever. This stay was unfortunately the worst experience we have ever had at any hotel in over 40 years of traveling. I intend on posting this review and my photographs on EVERY travel site I belong to; in my veterans blog (viral with 4 million readers nationwide) and in a law enforcement magazine I write travel articles for to to warn fellow travelers about this property. Travelers beware - I wish you all safe journeys! ~Dave
DO NOT STAY HERE!

Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT book here. The hotel has security guards everywhere, whom aren’t nice AT ALL! When we were going up to our room the security guard had her bike in the way of our room. She asked if we wanted to go past her, we responded nicely saying yes please. She than proceeded to say “I don’t like your tone, but I’ll let you past because you are probably tired from traveling.” That wasn’t the worst of it. The room was disgusting beyond disgusting. Literal wires hanging out of the wall, gross stuff all over the walls, drains not cleaned, stuff on the towels looking like they weren’t cleaned, the floor was disgusting. My husband went to talk to the front desk and they said they would give us our money back and a receipt showing we checked out, all they needed were the keys. He came to get my son, niece, and I and we went down to the front desk and EVERYTHING changed. Literally everything. Wouldn’t help us, wouldn’t give us a receipt. Funny thing is that a couple was leaving their room as well, because the room had not been cleaned, the beds weren’t made, someone else was already in their room, and there was dirty towels on the floor! The WORST customer service EVER! For this being COVID housing, transient housing, and homeless housing that makes sense why there is security, but no one told us when we checked in, just as a heads up would’ve been nice. Will be calling the county first thing Monday morning for the cleaning standards and customer service. This was the worst experience we’ve ever had with a hotel. WILL NEVER STAY HERE OR AT ANY COUNTRY INN & SUITES AGAIN! At our new hotel now, thinking about washing all our clothes and sanitizing everything and everyone in our party. VERY DISAPPOINTING! DO NOT STAY HERE! You will regret it!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. I did have some issues with my reservation but the friendly staff did what they could to accommodate my needs and fixed the issue in a very timely manner. Very quiet and peaceful I enjoyed my stay. Prices were great being so close to the beach. Highly recommend I will be staying there again.

This has got to be the scariest hotel I have ever stayed in for 150.00. The office keeps its doors locked and you have to be buzzed in. Security guards roam the outside...but wear camaflouge. Looks like a homeless shelter. The most awful ever...do not stay here! My daughter booked this for us and from now on I will do the booking...it was a gift to give it a 1.
