More about the hotel
Falsely Accused me of smoking and charged me $300
I've stayed in this hotel several times and until this last one I had a very good opinion of it. However, that has changed. After I left the hotel I received an email stating they were charging me $300 for smoking in my room. I hadn't. I did smoke on the balcony a few times with the glass door closed. But the housekeeper alleged that the room "smelled heavily of smoke." What she must have smelled was the garbage which had a few cigarette butts in it, which can reek. But it did not, could not, smell of smoke. The hotel would not reverse their decision. I advised that the next time they accuse a customer of this, they have at least one other person verify it -- AND take out the garbage first. The Mariposa Lodge just stole $300 from me.
Hoping your experience isn't the same
This is a very nice older property....on the outside. The rooms are very large, but awkwardly decorated. Our experience included turning a table lamp on only to find that the switch went inside the base, having the blower on the hair dryer not work at all, lights in the bathroom fixture were loose and not matched. The sink stopper was missing. The outside lights were not working on our building making it a bit dangerous navigating the stairs. We were told that something kept tripping the breaker (a short?) When we asked for another hair dryer, we were told we could change rooms. We had already scattered out umpteen bags around the room and only wanted a hair dryer so my wife could go to dinner without wet hair. I was told we didn't want to move rooms because it was inconvenient. I asked if we could just use a dryer (fixed to wall) from another room. I was told "no" because that would mean they would have to clean another room. Guess they wouldn't have had that issue if we had moved from the room where we showered. I had to give at least two stars for the location and general upkeep of the outside and an awareness that COVID-19 has made it difficult for the hotel businss, but they need help on maintenance of their rooms.
Disgusting
This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The front desk clerk was rude when we tried checking in. The rooms were poorly cleaned; the microwave was still dirty from the previous guests (an moldy cup was found inside), the bathroom was sub-par, and the refrigerator was very dirty as well. We had to do our own cleaning. Cleaning service did not come to clean while we were gone. On one of the bed sheets there was black stains, it looked as if it was washed out. But it did not sit well with me since it is quite disgusting to use stained sheets even if they are washed. I would not go back again, I understand it's not a luxurious hotel it should at least be clean.
Yosemite
Small town don't expect city crowd. Front Desk was helpful and friendly . It getS really hot during summer so A/C was on point . Hotel was kinda outdated but clean,Bed was comfy,Walking distance to stores ,Close to bus stop for Yosemite tour.
Mariposa Stay
Fantanstic location if you plan to visit Yosemite. Room are outdated but very big. bathroom had heating option which was nice and relaxing after long day of hiking. My family and I visited on June 10-12. First visitors after COVID 19 closure. My only comment is that the room had not been used for a very long time and had an outstanding smell. Host is super nice and helpful.
