I was staying for four nights in November. Typical Japanese business hotel, somewhat upscale. Matsue seems to have a shortage of hotels and so the price (~20000 with BF, cheapest category) was too simply high. Good but not exceptional breakfast. Rooms and bathroom small but not extremely small. We had also our conference dinners at the hotel and they were extremely fine, so probably the restaurant is good too.

Looked like the best of modern hotels clustered around the JR station. Efficient staff at check in. Clean well furnished room - but dont expect any 'character'. Quiet. Easy walking distance to dining/ drinking options.

This is a modern hotel with good sized rooms. The rooms are well soundproofed and quiet. It is located in the city centre and is close to the main area for restaurants and bars. Breakfast was one of the better ones we had in japan with a good choice.

Very comfortable Hotel. Rooms are a westernise version of your typical Japanese room. There is wooden floor at the entrance of the room where guests are encouraged to take their shoes off. Then you have two types of slippers (one to use on the carpeted area of the room and ones to use inside the bathroom). Inside the bathroom there is a separate place to shower/bathe. There is a full range of extras on display: razor blades+gel, shower caps, tooth brush+paste, shower mitt/towel, a hair band and your normal soap+shampoo+conditioner. Inside the room you have a desk, kettle, coffee/tea and bottled water. Breakfast buffet was delicious with a variety of western and Japanese food and a smoothie bar. Dinner was a bit pricey (all you can eat buffet) given that there are cheeper options are. The food was lovely though! Matsue has the advantage of not being a cosmopolitan area (if quietness is what you are looking for). There is a department store (Ichbata) across the street from the Hotel with a supermarket on floor -1 that sells a huge selection of ready meals including some of the freshest sashimi+sushi. I loved to rent a bicycle (300yen/day!) and ride up to the Castle! I really hope to return to Matsue, I never felt so relaxed!

We came as a tour and found our rooms typical for this class of hotel. The bed comfortable, the bathroom cramped, and the breakfast buffet wide ranging. The facilities were good and our buffet dinner very good.
