Yellow House stay
This was a very good location in Navan. Right beside the bus stop as I took the bus from the Dublin airport. The breakfast and the room were good. I would stay here again if I could not get hotel reservations at the Ardboine.
Good value
My husband and I stayed here as we were attending a wedding. It’s in a good location. The host was friendly. There is a lot of parking out the front. The room was clean and also had tea/coffee and biscuits. The breakfast was nice. I’d definitely stay here again.
Everything we needed.
Used this B&B for a four night stay for a local event in July. Everything about the stay was just lovely. Able to come and go as we needed, very friendly hosts - Hilda and Michael. Hilda had some great tips for travel to Dublin, thank you! Rooms were delightful, spacious, clean and had large en-suite facilities, not to mention the very comfy beds. Breakfast was a feast, and cooked to order. Parking is very safe and plenty of it. All in all would visit again in a hearbeat if we were in the area. Good luck with the rest of the summer.
Nice B&B but lots of room for improvement
We stayed here for a few nights during our travels around Ireland and it was satisfactory but we found it initially very impersonal for a B&B -- we felt it was more like a hotel stay in many ways. When we arrived rather than a friendly welcome we received a cool greeting, given the keys and told our room number, then the host pointed in the direction of our room saying "your room is over there". Our room with ensuite was bright and spacious but uncomfortable only bcs it was always damp and cold. The same applied to the ensuite. There were radiators in both rooms but we weren't able to turn them on, nor did we ever feel heat radiating from them at anytime during our stay. Upon our arrival we noticed a sign in the ensuite stating that the hot water is turned off between 2300 - 0645 so as not to disturb other guests, but on our first morning when we slept in until 0800 my spouse awoke to no hot water and therefore couldn't have a shower....so hot water here is sadly first come, first served....so we were sure to not miss out on hot water any other mornings. Another thing, we are happy using our towels for more than one day so we hung them up to dry when we left during the day, but we returned in the evening to find our damp towels folded on the towel stand. This was the only B&B during our month-long stay in Ireland where we noticed the excessive dampness and found that nothing dried out. On some good notes: breakfast here was tasty, varied and plentiful; and the location of this B&B is ideal for exploring the many sights around the Boyne Valley. Also, we did find that the host became more friendly and helpful the longer our stay progressed. I don't want to end my review implying that this B&B is bad, because that's not the case by any means -- we just think that many basic things need improving if the owners want better reviews and recommendations as a B&B, as opposed to a hotel.
Lovely breakfast, great coffee and seconds no bother!
I recently booked a room for a Saturday night in the Yellow House B&B. I was lucky to get a cancellation for a twin room, even though it was only a few days before Metalica were playing Slane that Saturday night. I feel it was really nice that I was charged the normal rate, even though I could have been charged a lot more, with the likely demand for accommodation that weekend. We had a lovely breakfast which included rhubarb from the garden and a cafetiere of coffee - Hilda offered me a second pot of coffee which was gratefully accepted! Hilda was lovely, she made time to chat and was very helpful with directions, both on the phone and while we were staying there. When we made a mistake about the checkout time, thinking it was midday instead of 11.00am, there was no bother or fuss about it.
