Familier atmosphere

Family runed hotel close to the city center. Great service and approach from the staff. The breakfast was good and the food in the evening was better than on the more costly and luxury restaurants. Pretty basic rooms but wit newly renovated and upgraded bath room.

Reasonable hotel on the edge of Megeve town

Reviewed 4 march, 2018

The hotel is an "apart hotel" with each of the three rooms we had having a double sofa bed, two bunk beds, small bathroom and a small kitchen area with a table and chairs. The common areas are a bit dated, but overall I would rate the hotel as "Good". Tripadvisor don't do "good" ratings for some bizarre reason. The rooms were not cleaned during our stay. Not a huge issue over four days, but might be over a week, with a few in the room. Had to ask at reception for extra loo roll etc. Breakfast was €10 which was OK, plenty of coffee, juice, bed croissant cereals and boiled eggs. The accommodation is cheap for Megeve. The hotel is very close to McDonalds, a supermarket, pharmacy and pizza takeaway. The walk into town is about 15 minutes along what is a busy road, for half that time. We didn't attempt the walk in ski boots - too painful I think. If you are after relatively cheap accommodation in Megeve and are not bothered by a bracing walk in the morning to the ski shop (leave boots and skis overnight) and lift - this is great for you.

“Hotel” - Don’t be fooled by the word

Reviewed 4 february, 2018

A group of 6 of us left it late and booked here as there was no other accommodation available in Megève. Stupidly thought it was a hotel where we could have a good B&B, not too far from town (15mins walk to the central square). This place is great if you want self catering, cheap and don’t care about comfort. A family would struggle with the limited space. Not for those who want to have value for money but expect B&B. At £85 per night it is really, really cheap but if the weather hadn’t been as good as it was and the amazing conditions it would have ruined my holiday. Here’s why: First room we were offered was an ‘apartment’ with a tiny room with bunk beds and the main bed was a sofa bed with a wafer thin mattress in the lounge area! Nope. We don’t do camping anymore. Second room (012) was a studio apartment on the ground floor at the back of the ‘hotel’, the ‘bedroom’ was tiny, the bed was off the floor by 3 feet (think princess and the pea) you had to use a stool to get into / out of bed! The bed was so small with a well in the middle of the mattress you rolled on top of each other (and not in a romantic way) and using the bedroom for anything that other than sleeping was impossible, the mattress was as hard as a board so we slept really badly for the whole week, tough when your skiing. Breakfast was a complete rip off. Advertised as €9 but charged at €10 for boiled egg, croissant, really horrible coffee and bread roll. No ham and cheese or anything cooked. Facilities - no one looked at our room for a whole week, it was dirty and there was a disgusting sponge and a drop of washing up liquid someone had left behind to wash up with, we had to buy things such as loo roll and soap and use a huge pan to boil water as there was no kettle - not what we were expecting for a ‘hotel’! I had to ask for extra towels and the bedding was stained and didn’t get changed once the whole week we were there. The sheets also didn’t fit the bed which meant you had to make the bed every time you got in it! Everything was just tired and uncared for. The corridors were tired and only hoovered once, same pile of crumbs stayed put for 5 days! 3 of our party were sharing an apartment advertised for 6, there were only three cups and the dishwasher didn’t work. Hot water - what’s that??!!! We had 2 days without it and one of our party didn’t have ‘hot’ water until the last day, it had been luke warm and needed topping up with a kettle every time you wanted a bath! Heating not great, we didn’t feel warm the whole week. Reception area was really tired and you wouldn’t want to spend any time in it. The caretakers (I say that as they clearly had no interest in the success of the place or happiness of their guests) who are looking after the place were miserable, rude and unhelpful. They also have their whole family there so small children running around. When I went to notify the caretaker we had no hot water, he made me wait for 10 mins while he was chatting on the phone without acknowledging I was there and when he got off the phone, he laughed and said whole building was cold, I said ok, how long? Shrugged his shoulders!!! Not what I was expecting. The Hotel Dog - great big Alsatian who wakes up everyone at the front of the ‘hotel’ at 6.30 every morning by barking outside the ‘hotel’. It lives in the reception area, usually lies across the front door. Quite intimidating if your not a fan of dogs. Security was non existent, there was a code on the front door but it was only locked once (see below), room keys in a basket or behind reception in an unlocked cabinet. No safe facilities in the rooms or reception. Rarely was there someone on reception. Watch out if you return late at night though, they do lock the front door at 10.30pm and changed the code without telling the guests! we couldn’t get in to the ‘hotel’ on our last night, luckily someone was leaving and let us in but the caretakers didn’t answer the door with repeated knocking and there was no phone or buzzer to get their attention. Bar not open when you came back from dinner, we didn’t go in there but our friends did and said they wouldn’t spend time in there. Tip - make sure your expectations are appropriate for staying here, it’s not a hotel or B&B of any kind.

Far from town centre and ski slopes

Reviewed 19 february, 2016

This hotel /residence is on the main road into Megève town, the Route National. It is friendly and appears to be family run. Plus points Good restaurant, La Marmotte Carrefour is just next door (and Mcdonald's, if that is your thing) Parking usually available Friendly Negative points 'Walking' distance to Jaillet ski lift ie 15 minute walk (very difficult with children, skis & ski boots) 15 minute walk to the nearest bus stop to take you to the other resort lifts. Old and run down in the corridors. If we went to Megève again, we would stay in the centre and definitely nearer to the ski lifts.

Nice apartment, but residence ran down and hidden costs

Reviewed 25 november, 2015

We made a reservation to stay for a week-end at this property. The prices for the reservation were very competitive. However 3 days before our arrival, we were called to say we had to bring our own linen! However when I asked for them to provide linen, I was told that we would be charged extra and that they could not cancel my reservation! I was quoted the same price for the rental as for the rooms... Which made the deal much less attractive! The apartment has been recently redone but a lot of things are missing (light bulbs, washing up liquid, only half a roll of toilet paper).... The outside of the hotel and the corridors are very run down and are in disparate need of renovation. Following our complaint (for which we received no refund) they were forced by booking to add information that no towels or bed linen was provided, so at least new bookers don't get trapped.
