Short stay - ticked all the boxes

I needed to be in Melksham for one night and came across The Conigre. It's easy to find and plenty parking. My single room was in the stable block and it was a self service check in for covid reasons and everything worked perfect in this regard. Communication about the room prior to arrival had been clear and prompt. Breakfast was offered as a continental breakfast in the room, worked for me. I was never in the main building so cannot comment. The room itself had eveything I needed for a short stay, fridge with fresh milk, cereal and croissants for breakfast and plenty tea for a hot drink. Shower room was good. I had no issue at all with noise from the road or adjoining rooms. I met Andy and Justine in the morning and they were pleasant and helpful. I'm a pretty experienced traveller, pretty low maintenance and this place was fine for me, perhaps others who like company may prefer the main house. No issues at all from me and I'd happily use this place again if I was in town. Good food along the road at The Unicorn as part of the West End Bar, fab portions!
An excellent B&B, quiet, comfortable with beautifully prepared rooms.

We needed to stay for one night in Melksham and came across The Conigre - it is very well-located in the small town. As previously mentioned by others, this is now under new ownership - I cannot comment on the previous owners but they new owners are friendly, helpful and really do try to offer the best experience possible.
Our bedroom was clean, comfortable, had some nice touches - coffee, tea, biscuits, fresh milk in the fridge and complimentary drinks.
Thoughtfully also in the room was - a fan and hair dryer.
The bathroom was nicely appointed with a good quality shower.
Breakfast was excellent in the welcoming dining room with a nice variety of choices.
We would be very happy to stay there again - highly recommended!

We found the owners very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a room in the barn conversion for two nights. We loved the signs on the wall near our door especially no rif raf. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom large and even had a television. The shower in the bath was wonderful with really hot water and was very powerful. The only slight drawback was the need to run the tap in the bathroom sink for some time to get hot water. We thought a heated towel rail would be good as our towels got a bit wet while we were there. The breakfast was in the main house and was very well provided with covid in mind. There was a good breakfast available with cereals and yoghurt, orange juice, tea or coffee. We both had the vegetarian breakfast the first morning, The mushrooms were a bit salty and I did not like the vegetarian sausages but that was not the hotels fault. I had just the egg on toast the second morning which was very nice. We found the service at breakfast on both mornings very good and friendly. If we are ever in the area we would be delighted to return if we would be welcome.
