3 star is pushing it, single bed room, very small, just the bed and toilet shower ...staff at checking my nice, the room was clean. Not much else to add, parking in the street, a decent enough location
Noisy and run down - not 3*

I can overlook dated decor, a tiny bathroom and lack of amenities (coffee, fridge, safe etc) for a good location at a good price... but... paper thin walls, being woken up repeatedly by neighbours as loud as if they were in our room isn't acceptable! Definitely not 3* and even at the bargain price i wouldn't stay again!

We were three people and our two double rooms were in the 4th floor nicely connected together. Rooms were quiet, clean and nicely decorated. It was quite cold outside but heating in the rooms worked very well. Not so well in the toilet but there was a warm air fan which helped and made it also comfortable. The breakfast made a very good start to the day.
One night stay

Stayed with family for one night to got to a football match. Hotel is easy to find. About a 10 minute walk from railway station. Reception staff very pleasant. We had an adjoining room on floor 2 which had a double bed & 2 singles. Both had shower rooms, toilets & toiletries. About a 15 minute walk from the Old town of Metz which is lovely. Did not have breakfast due to rail strikes so had to get an earlier train back to Paris. Would stay at again.

One of the things people don't get is the...diversity. You shouldn't evaluate a..."thing" from France on the same terms with the same "thing" from USA, Lebanon or Romania. That being said, for a french (standards) hotel (very small rooms, very small bathrooms, very small..."everything"'s), Escurial is a decent & very clean 3 stars hotel. The staff was very friendly, both at the reception and during the breakfast. The location is great: five minutes from the train station (ooook, maybe ten if you're sleeping), 10-15 from the old town (which means a very nice walk). The verdict is YES.
