This was our first trip to Quintana Roo and my husband and I decided that Holbox would be our destination. When we arrived at Beachfront La Palapa we were amazed. I had been in contact with Bryan and Isis on instructions and things that needed to be settled before our arrival. But as soon as we stepped foot in the hotel, we were greeted very warmly by all the staff. We arrived at night so we enjoyed our first sleep with the waves hitting so close to us, it seemed. We stayed in room 6, and it was so comfortable and we had exactly what we needed to just relax. The breakfasts in the morning were to die for. If we needed to wait we did, it was so worth it, and the staff was always so nice. We spent our days walking the beach, and but we enjoyed our last 2 days just lounging in the hotel. We had drinks and appetizers, the sea was a little dirty but that's mother nature for you, the staff though, kept the rest of the lounging area clean and the zargazo, there was hardly any on out beach. I had made the trip also, to receive my 50th year of life, just enjoying it and the cleaning crew left a very nice and touching detail on my bed, I will attach a picture. I cried way too much. Someone in a very recent review made a comment about the outside noise and music; Holbox it's such a small island that I don't think you can escape it, I slept completely fine, through the sound of the waves crashing. My daughter gifted my husband and I a massage right there at the hotel, we enjoyed it a lot. All in all, my husband and I are already planning to come back next year and definitely staying at the Beachfront La Palapa hotel. Thank you, Bryan, isis, Monica, the staff at the restaurant and bar for all your undivided attention when we needed it. Hope to be back soon Emma Covarrubias
Nice hotel on the beach

This is a pretty hotel on the beach, adjacent to the city center. Pros: Our room was large and well equipped. The patio was great and the view was beautiful. Everything you need is within walking distance and there are tons of restaurants and bars along the beach. Cons: There is really loud music playing in the nearby bars until 2am every night. You can also hear everything inside your room, including people talking in the hallway. The restaurant is overpriced and there were long waits for breakfast due to not enough tables. The front desk staff quoted me one price for a covid test through an outside doctor but when the doctor came, they quoted me quite a bit less for the test, which was interesting. At one point we thought we lost our room and safe key and the front desk staff said we’d be charged $100 US dollars to replace them which is outrageous. Thankfully we found our keys! All in all, this is a nice hotel and reasonably priced but I would not stay there again.

We had a fantastic stay at BLP , it was a cute, quaint, charming boutique hotel, truly beachfront, not the fanciest hotel but I have to say the sargasso was so bad on practically all of the beachfront hotels, the beach at BLP was the prettiest , the guys work very hard to keep it clear. The view from our balcony, room no. 6 was amazing and we were just steps from the water. Very close to town and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
A Genuine Experience of Ease

Straightforwardly luxurious, not ostentatious. Super comfortable, warm experience. Really lovely plating at the beach restaurant! Pristine beach strip had a resident Great Blue Heron we enjoyed seeing every day, too.

This was our second trip to Holbox. We stayed at a different beachfront hotel last time and just happened to walk past La Palapa on one of our many walks. It had a very authentic vibe, so after much research we decided to stay here on this trip. We stayed for a total of 10 nights and could not have been happier. Upon arrival our room was not ready. We opted to have lunch at the onsite restaurant and could not have been more pleased with the service, food and beverages. We were given room 16. Which is on the third floor in the small part of the hotel. It was perfect! We loved staying on the higher floors. It had a beautiful little balcony. The room is very large with a king size bed. As stated, the room comes with a room safe, private bathroom and great air conditioning. The first night there we were unfamiliar with Celsius so we set the temperature at 16 degrees. We woke up in the morning freezing. A quick google search showed we set the thermostat at 61-degree Fahrenheit. Fresh towels were provided everyday if you left them on the floor. The bathroom also had a great selection of organic soaps and shampoos which were replenished as needed. There was always plenty of hot water and great water pressure. My wife said the in-room hairdryer worked great. This room is located to the far left (when you are looking from the beach) which puts it right on the corner of the side road and beach. Some nights we could hear people talking but we never had any trouble sleeping. They provided us with two bottles of water. By the lobby and spa, they had water dispensers with hot and cold water. These water dispensers had 5-gallon bottles of purified water. So we would just use refillable cups that we brought with us. The real gem of this property are the employees. Every employee we encountered (including the folks who cleaned the rooms and maintained the grounds) greeted us with hello or good day. The lobby staff of Monica, Isis and Bryan were just wonderful even before we arrived. I had sent several emails, all of which were responded to promptly. Upon arrival, and throughout our trip, they were super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I cannot say enough about the staff at the restaurant and bar. Mariela, Eddy, & Rolondo all treated us like family. On the first day my wife just wanted some toast in our room. I asked Mariela for some toast and she quickly gave me a to-go container with toast, butter and jam, and a hot cup of tea. Throughout our stay they all just went above and beyond. The included breakfast was wonderful. They have a menu with about 10 different items. All of them prepared fresh with beautiful presentations. The coffee and juices were very good. We were there on Día de Muertos and they shared a special traditional dessert with us after our breakfast. It was a baked pumpkin with a caramelized sauce. The beach area was wonderfully maintained. On the days with no wind the water was a beautiful tropical blue/green color with no waves. We did have a few days with wind and the water was still swimmable, but a little choppy. On those windy days they did a great job of keeping the beach clean. The loungers were very comfortable. They also had nice chairs if you preferred. Beach towels were provided. I loved the location of this hotel. Once our golf cart dropped us off from the ferry we walked everywhere. All of the restaurants are nearby. Even a few that were on the outskirts were only a 10-15 minute walk. The only advice I would give is that you do have any mobility issues, be sure to stay on the ground floor. There is no elevator for the upper floors. My wife and I are in our 50’s and 60’s and had absolutely no issues with the stairs. In closing this is truly a great hotel. When we return to Holbox we will definitely stay at Beachfront La Palapa again.
