It's just fine for a quick sleepover

Stayed here for one (short) night on our way to Venice to join a cruise ship. Arrived somewhen after 9pm, check in was quick and easy. Booked the cheapest double room, since we only got around 6hrs of sleep anyways. For around 100 bucks we got a pretty standard room. Just two beds, a table and a chair or two. Nothing fancy, but all very clean. A TV and free WiFi as well. For this location and price surely a fair deal. There even would have been breakfast, but we left before 6am. Check out as easy as the check in. And there's a bunch of restaurants just on the street in case you feel hungry (we sure did). For us it was the price and location (just about a 5' walk from the train station) that convinced us. Would stay here again. All we needed.

Classy and Honest

Picked this hotel through the internet (Agoda) in a relative hurry, mainly for its proximity (very short walk) to the train station (Milan Central) and stayed here for one night. Everything about it proved a pleasant surprise. From the polite, well dressed gentlemen at the reception, to the clean, warm, nicely set up and decorated room, with the mini bar, the comfortable bed and the squeaky clean, functional bathroom. The hotel has an elevator and is nice all around. Didn't have time to try the breakfast (extra) but got a chance, at check out, to watch the buffet being set up and it looked really good. Overall a rather positive experience. Not exactly a budget accommodation but one of those places that leaves you with a "money well spent" feeling as you walk out its door. Suitable for longer stays, too.

We booked this property through Expedia. I had 2 credit cards listed on Expedia. The first credit card expired. I received an email from Hotel Garda requesting I send them credit card details over email. I was unsure if this was a genuine request or a scam. Expedia advise not to send any payment details outaide of their platform. So I replied to the email advising that I still required the accomodation and that I would update my Expedia account with another credit card for them to try again. I received another email from them advising that the Expedia account payment did not work again and to send credit cards details to them on 2 separate emails. I told them I would ring them and provide details over the phone. We were advised that they could not assist us over the phone. I decided to email Hotel Garda on a new email thread to the email account on their website, to be sure they were legitimate. I did not receive any reply from this email I sent. I assumed the previous emails were a scam. On the morning of us travelling to Milan approximately 3 hours before we checked into Hotel Garda they cancelled our booking. We had to re book our rooms on booking.com at a higher price. Expedia was showing the hotel as booked out. Unfortunately we were travelling with a group, otherwise I would have taken our money elsewhere. We tried to speak to numerous staff and managers to receive the original price for the hotel rooms from our original booking (100€ less) however they said they could only give us 10% off if we paid by cash on check out ( which they offer all clients). We advised them that was not good enough so they took only €20 off the booking. I am writing this review hoping this does not happen to others and hoping this is not something the hotel does to make more money on purpose. It just wasn't good enough. I would not suggest anyone to stay there.

Overall good experience

Really great location! The hotel was reasonably nice, tidy and clean. Breakfast was standard with what you want to get you started until lunch time. The reception was helpful when we asked questions. Overall a very modest reasonably priced stay as I was expecting.
