Great location, nice rooms but...

Reviewed 22 august, 2022

Ok the good. Valet is great especially for 1 person running and parking. There is a parking garage across the street if you opt to park yourself. Getting to the front desk requires a ride to floor 5. Note these are separate elevators. Very nice lobby. Front desk was pleasant and quick especially for one person. Room was upgraded(Thank you Marriott) to a multi-level loft. Lots of room. Living area on level 31. Bed/bath via stairs one level up. Cool. Now I would have given the hotel 2 more stars but ran into the following issues. No one answers the phone(Operator/Front Desk). If you want food forget trying to call ahead. You WILL be going to the lobby/ordering out/going out. The lobby restaurant was quick but also staffed by one person. Food quality was good. The strangest part and cannot believe someone did not notice this. The compartment where they put the toilet in the room is oddly shaped. Instead of turning the toilet 20-30 degrees you have to sit in 10 o'clock position go use the facilities. Now this may only be a quirk of being on the upper level and normal rooms may not have this issue. But dudes, and I can only assume a guy installed this or someone that hates average size folks, what were you thinking??? Would I stay here again sure, but not in the multi-level unit. I also hope they boost the staffing a bit. The team did well given they seem to be at minimum levels to run the hotel. Hope they get some bonus $$$ for holding this operation together.

Better downtown options

Reviewed 4 august, 2022

Nice sized room, very clean, very spacious. Nice bathroom and shower. Very difficult to get to the front desk from the parking garage. Expensive overnight parking. The dagger in the heart? The TV didn't work our entire stay and maintenance never showed up despite a call to the front desk. One plus that really isn't owed to Marriott - the restaurant right across the street, Wood and Paddle Eatery, is amazing.

Modernized Hotel with Very Accommodating Staff

Reviewed 4 august, 2022

Stayed here for eight nights in July while my niece competed in USA Fencing Nationals. Staff, especially Thomas, Melonie, and Jason were very friendly and handled all of our requests with a smile. Thomas was even able to put our three rooms under three separate reservations on the same floor and within a few feet of each other despite our specific room layout requests which weren't made until check in. The staff really went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The hotel has just completed a complete overhaul and the rooms and common areas were clean, modern, and comfortable. There were two negative points though. We had a shower only room and the weatherstripping on the shower door seemed to have been damaged at some point, resulting in a very wet bathroom floor after each shower. Engineering showed up immediately after we notified the front desk and attempted to find and fix the leak; however, did not succeed. Our work-around was make a temporary seal using extra towels. Second negative was for the loud music deep into the weekend nights coming from a club a block away. Overall, the property was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located with very friendly staff who went above and beyond to make our stay a very positive experience.

Modern, Well-Lit, and Conveniently Located

Reviewed 12 july, 2022

This hotel has very detailed contemporary features that highlight its modern, well-lit atmosphere. The staff seemed willing to assist with anything requested and the lobby gave off an inviting "city center" appeal. If you are self-parking, maneuvering in and out of the hotel is a long process that involves three elevators to your guest room. However, this slight inconvenience gave us an opportunity to walk off some of the great food that is nearby. Another plus is that the hotel is within walking distance minutes to most desirable downtown attractions.

Great location for downtown Minneapolis

Reviewed 27 june, 2022

We had a nice stay at the Marriott City Center. The location was perfect for downtown area The staff was friendly and helpful in all our request. Our room was clean and comfortable. The concierge lounge was substandard compared to other Marriotts that we stayed in. It was located on the bottom floor. The price could be more competitive for the area. Overall we would recommend this hotel if in downtown Minneapolis.
