Fazenda San Francisco - Inn and Tours in the Southern Pantanal The true integration between man and nature! BRAZIL's Pantanal is considered by UNESCO a Biosphere Reserve that houses hundreds of species of animals and lush flora. At San Francisco Farm you will have the opportunity to know the real operation of a farm in the Pantanal, where the culture and culture of the Pantanal man go hand in hand with the environment. The conservation spirit of Beth and Roberto led to the establishment of several research projects. Blue macaws, parrots, snakes, amphibians, ocelots, cougars and jaguars are...

The farmer is not only huge but very well administrate as well. The staff is very organised and helpfull, always willing to make a difference. It´s a perfect place to combine relaxing with family or friends but also to take a trip on your own and enjoy the day trips, bealtifuul sun set or night safaris.

2.5 days in the Pantanal with animals

A nice place and we had our own English speaking guide as we were there as part of a tour the rooms were good but a bit squashy with 4 adults in a bed room I heard some rooms were noisy from all the air conditioners along the back wall the food was not very good at all as has been stated by a previous reviewer. the meat was very tough esp seeing it's a cattle ranch and the rest was mediocre so don't come here for a grand meal.. Night tour was great and the boat tour very good as it was quiet season it didn't bother us that day trippers come along.

Excellent wildlife viewing, day and night

We had 3 days here in October 2017. This is a busy cattle ranch, rice farm and has areas of natural vegetation, for a wide variety of wildlife to flourish. We had a private guide plus a local driver/guide and private vehicle. So our wonderful experience may not be typical of most of the day visitors. Meals are adequate, but this is mass catering, particularly at lunchtime when the dining room is crowded. Our room was clean and reasonably comfortable with good A/C but a small window with no clear glazing, so a bit cell-like. There was no wardrobe or drawers for clothes. Charging of batteries can be done at reception. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, we saw may bird species, giant anteaters, foxes, deer, giant river otter, snakes (including anaconda at night), a maned wolf running across the grassland, and several ocelot at night (the main highlight). We saw fresh jaguar prints but the cat was elusive. However, the owner of the ranch showed us a photo on his phone that he had taken a few minutes earlier of the carcass of a calf killed the previous night by a jaguar - he accepts that he loses a few. We had a river trip and saw howler monkeys and birds including jacamar and trogon. To enjoy the night drives we would recommend head nets to cut out the huge number of insects hitting your face when driving on the open vehicle. And a private guide.

A paradise for birders and wildlife lovers!!

Fazenda San Francisco is probably the best place to know the fauna and flora of the Pantanal and Cerrado area around, including birding, wildlife safari tours and Jaguar tours, all of it with confort and safety for the best Pantanal experience and in the mood to come back!!

BE AWARE!!!!!!!!

There are many reviews that rate this as outstanding which is NOT true. We just returned from 4 nights July 2017.I travel a lot, here is the true overview. They have day users. You may be 30 people at night, but 130 or more in the day, there are no "perks" to being an overnight guest, join the line pay the price. It is NOT all inclusive. Besides juice etc. at breakfast, you PAY FOR EVERYTHING (except limited food) including water for lunch and dinner, no bottles are even provided in room, never seen this ever. For the price, totally unacceptable to not even to provide water, seriously. The food quality is far from "outstanding" it is the same old every day and limited. Breakfast may have scrambled eggs if they don't run out, other than that, fruit, rice, a loaf of bread, NO cheese, breads, sliced meets, yogurt etc. and ask for butter, no jam. Buffet for lunch and dinner, worst bbq meat cuts you can imagine, obviously what they couldn't sell for profit, shoe leather, chicken, beans, rice, a veggie, salad, no cheese, breads or variety, again, no free liquids. Make sure you bring everything liquid to drink INCLUDING WATER if you choose to go.Desert, watermelon (TYG) two lousy whatevers. The safaris. If your vision of a safari is to drive endlessly around empty fields of dirt, on a small dirt road hoping to catch a Jaguar, never gonna happen. If you are a Birder, photog type you will love it, great birds for sure and picture opportunities and we did see anteater, deer and ocelet. The boat tours were good, horse riding, canoeing, boardwalk into the preserve too were good. The location is quiet and lovely, rooms were 3 plus but choose away from main lodge, insist not to be in main lodge, the green building where there are three rooms located, do not accept these. They mark beverages on a card, you get no receipt, just lines on a card, at they end they will say well you have been here a few days that must be the total, watch this closely, they tried to overcharge us, not a big amount but principal matters to most people including me. Guides are available who speak English, Roberta and JIJI were great, the WILL NOT tell you these guides are available, you have to push, they will pretend no one speaks English, they do, 90% of visitors are from Brazil, so, you are just bonus, push, by day two we and othe English speakers miraculously had an English guide. All in all, far below the dream we had, substandard food, far from the Safari we hoped for, and generally a cash grab. But...if you love taking pictures of birds and driving in squares, a way you go! I will spend on Sri Lanka, and South Africa, and remain sadly short changed on this trip, we were told it was better than the Amazon, I will let you know. :)
