Rainstorms & Rainbows

Reviewed 1 january, 2022

Even with a pending rainstorm, we had an AMAZING pre-Christmas stay-cation!! Shout out to Reuben Medina, the friendly Front Office Team, and the accommodating lobby bartender. What an Elevated Experience for my family and I! We had a delightful time and enjoyed all the special touches. We saw SIX rainbows on our drive home from the resort, what a lucky trip! 😊

Fun time with family.

The resort is very nice. Although the buildings are older. The rooms were very nice. Beds were comfortable and it was an overall very pleasant experience. The restaurant Arlo was a great experience. Food was top notch. As was the service. The Market for small items left a little to be desired. Just expensive. But carried the necessities.

No redeeming qualities!

The entire experience was disgusting. My room was far away in an extremely old building with no one around and constant construction surrounding it. "Resort" is a loose term at best. The food was not good, drinks were expensive, and beware of added gratuity. The layout makes no sense! It seems like all the buildings were added 20 years apart with no long-term planning.

Best Birthday Ever

OUTSTANDING! My fiancé is very picky about hotels and she was over the moon about how cool, cozy, and convenient everything was. We were visiting Balboa Park and searched hotels near by, and found a great value for a Thursday arrival and Saturday departure. I remembered Town & Country from 2017 before the renovations, and was content with what I remembered, as we just needed a convenient place to sleep that was close to our points if interest. WOW, we were impressed. The property is tucked between two luxury residential towers, and right across the San Diego River trail. Upon entering the roundabout in front of the main lobby, we were taken away by the Modern Art Deco-Style and chic design. The color palate enhances the SoCal coastal aesthetic, along with stylish accents and details. The BEST part is the VIBE. We already live by the beach in a trendy neighborhood, but we definitely felt like we were on a distant vacation. There are 3 pools (general swimming, kids/infant, & 3 story waterslide!) with cabana service and towels, along with lounging chairs and umbrellas. A 4th pool is tucked away for a quieter experience. The two on-site restaurants offers delicious, seasonal plates and extensive wines, brews, and spirits. The staff we encountered from begining to end, knows exactly what great hospitality is all about and demonstrates it with ease.

avoid this hotel

I am here for a business trip, so grateful that I am not spending my own money. I have a room in the "bungalow" section, with is basically a Motel 6 with a nice mattress. There is some kind of emergency light that shines through the window blinds all night - there is no way to black it out. The TV didn't work in the room when I arrived and when I called the front desk they told me to disconnect and reconnect the wires in the back. I did this twice (along with having to reset the alarm clock in the room). I called the front desk back when the TV still didn't work and they said "the maintenance guy just went home." Crazy.... I asked for another room and the staff first said there was nothing available, then I kept complaining and magically they found 2 other rooms in the same awful building. The front desk staff is disinterested, at best. The hotel campus is poorly organized and part construction zone. The outside looks pretty, but the experience is not.
