Really bad experience, poor location and customer service

With a group of friends, we decided to spend a couple of days after a party to relax and enjoy all together. We arrived in the late evening of Thursday. The place is like a village with a reception in the centre surrounded by the buildings with the rooms. Outside the reception, there are not signals to guide you so you need to check building by building where is your room by going in the front of each door. First thing in the room the air conditioner was broken and stuck with in a very cold temperature and impossible to change. Some lights were broken and the worst thing was NO HOT WATER. We called the reception and she said it was a normal thing as the boiler was busy to prepare the water for the next day. That's crazy, a structure of 4 stars big like a village with no hot water during the night?? The breakfast is scandalous, just a bit of cheap fat ham and cheese, some old boiled eggs and terrible bakeries probably from days before. Could you believe that in a 4 stars hotel for a toast you need to use a dirty toaster left in the middle of a table unplugged and that you need to plug in every time you want to use?? Yes, it's true. The pool is big but there is not any member staff or security. No bar, so you need to go all the way out to the reception, which is far, even if you are in swimwear and wet. Umbrellas and chairs broken, pool dirty. Terrible customer service, we were looking for the bathroom but there was no one you can ask to so when we saw a lady coming out from the main building (probably a masseuse from the spa) we kindly asked where it was, and she replied: ”Why don't you ask the lifeguard of the pool?!” ”Sorry, there is no one!” ”Really!?, I will speak with the reception” ”ok, please where is the nearest toilet?” ”There is one inside and one outside near the pool” ”where is the on the outside near the pool?” ”there, can't you able to read?!” (There was a small signal far away hidden by some stuff) This is unacceptable. A member of staff speaking to a customer like this is unacceptable. Finally, it was time for lunch... Terrible service and terrible food. We decided to try the fish menu. Really bad quality, poor portions and service like a school canteen. I can't believe this place is 4 stars. It's ridiculous. We will never come back.

It is ok

Nice place well located at the junction with ss 115 to ispica and sp 32. You have all the facilities of a conference hotel. Forget to find a boutique hotel or a charming masseria but if you seek for a relaxing place where you can sleep for the next day this hotel fits this need. We did not try the restaurant nextdoor which belongs to the same group managing the hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are comfortable with an old style furniture but solid and practical.

The Perfect Place !

Reviewed 3 march, 2018

Borgo Don Chisciotte, is located in a quite neighborhood in the Province of Modica and it is the perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The staff is very courteous and the rooms are clean and with all comforts. The Spa, even if it has an additional cost, is worthwhile and it is an added value to the vacation.

A very pleasant stay

Located in the countryside a 15-minute drive from Modica, this hotel has a central block and several external low-rise buildings, a huge parking lot, a separate restaurant and a big outdoor pool area. The pool itself consists of 3 different sections with different depths. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable, clean and stylish and we also had jacuzzi in our bathroom. Breakfast is good and it is served in the central block from 7.30 to 10am. At night the compound is very quiet and there's a lot of privacy. The downsides are Wi-Fi only in the main building and the A/C which is not controlled manually.

Breakfast & Dinner was like a double dose of Fawlty towers.

The Hotel is well out of town and consists of blocks of rooms not connected to the Hotel building. The rooms were well furnished and quiet but the first floor rooms suffer from a lack of roof insulation that made them need air-conditioning at night in September. Ground floor was exactly opposite but the air-conditioning was controlled from Reception and not as described in the room. They had 3 weddings and a car rally on during our three day stay so guess who came last in the pecking order. Dinner on all three nights was chaotic with bits of food arriving at the tables, not in the right order and cold and greasy. Getting wine which we were paying for was like getting rain in the desert. We were on an Archers tour, 51 of us with a Dutch Guide. She was no use at all. She promised 'the Director' would be there the next night so it would be better. He came along, gave her a kiss, looked at us, then went into the kitchen. If anything it got worse and being a fair distance out of town there was no where else to go. The third night was just as chaotic and 'foodless'. Our first breakfast was great until you wanted a tea or coffee. You had to queue at the bar whilst one woman dispensed the drinks for 51 people. She had hot water and coffee in flasks but it was cold and she was trying to warm it up on the steam pipe. Next day breakfast started to arrive as we did and the drink situation was still the same. They were still bringing out breakfast as we left. Final day leaving early and we were surprised to see breakfast almost laid out as we arrived; still the same situation with the hot drinks. Our Guide who had been totally useless was now gushing about the food at the second Hotel (more of that later). They need a Maitre D and a Chef urgently, so check before you go.
