My favorite place to stay in Italy

I was at La Nina last 16 years ago, back then i visited them 4 times cause is was a wonderful place to stay and eat. I moved out of Europe and only returned 2 years ago, and it was my dream to go back to La Nina, finally last week i was able. We stayed 3 nights in the beautiful house that is next to the restaurant. The house is tastefully decorated inside, the rooms are very spacious and clean, beds super comfortable. Because it's located up on a hill, the views from the well kept garden are stunning. We had dinner 3 nights at the restaurant. The food was even better then i remembered it to be. Because we stayed 3 nights, we tasted most of the menu. And each and every dish was delicious, my favorite the stuffed zucchini flowers as a starter, the pasta with truffle and their meats, all good. Great wine selection too. But what makes the place really special to me is the staff. They are all so friendly and helpful, really make you feel welcome. Hope to return in June and can higly recommend.

Clean and comfortable but not great customer service

We stopped here just for the overnight, arriving after dark. It was perfectly clean and comfortable but the check-in was very strange and they didn't seem prepared for our arrival. The restaurant was completely booked and they wouldn't seat us (just two people) so we had to venture out to the neighboring town (actually ended up working quite well). Customer service wasn't great but you're getting what you pay for and it's an easy spot to stop in Tuscany.

After stumbling across this place around 8 years ago, we have now been a handful of times and our families now love it too. We go here for the fantastic food and very reasonable prices to stay the night. My husband proposed to me here. I don't tend to eat Italian food anywhere else as I know that it won't compare. The white wine from their vineyard is my absolute favourite. We served this at our wedding so that we could share this with our friends and family. We have saved a bottle for this Christmas so that we can enjoy a glass after the birth of our first child this month. We hope to see Ivan and the rest of the staff next year. It is an easy drive from Pisa airport. The beach is about 30 to 45 minutes away in the car. Cycling around the city walls of Luca on a tandem bike is fun. The village of Montecarlo is within walking distance.

This is a regular stop-over for us on our journey further south in Tuscany and Umbria. We would hate to miss it as the accommodation is such good value and yet very spacious and comfortable. The food is extra special and the staff are now more like friends. The steaks and chops, cooked on an open wood grill are splendid. Starters and desserts are all made to order. Local wine made by the family is excellent. And they make their own home-made chips!

We only stayed for the weekend, (our second stay) the rooms are very large and clean, its a very large Villa, and the restaurant is about 50 meters nearby, with lovely gardens and ample parking. Good value rooms, but it is 1.6k from Montecarlo center, but otherwise ok for a touring base.
