Three star hotel with a two star service

All in all my stay wasn’t too bad, however the only bar and restaurant in the complex was closed all weekend till 5pm. The breakfast set up was empty by 9:30 and with 30 minutes left there was no scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages or coffee refill. 20 minutes walk minimum from the nearest entertainment spot.

Old building. Run down in appearance. Untidy rooms, old and outdated. One of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever tried to sleep in. Beer lines not cleaned correctly as you could taste the cleaning fluid in the beer. Scrambled eggs at breakfast more like yoghurt in consistency. Only stayed here 1 night because I had a company meeting across the road at GEA. Would never stay at this hotel again and would definitely NOT recommend it. Walk a couple of minutes up the road to the Velodrome and stay at the IBIS. Nicer rooms, better beds and better value for money.
Quiet hotel with a nice restaurant

A good place to stay for work, and within walking distance of the main business area. I like it better than the Mercure because it is much quieter. And the restaurant is nicer, and the food is better. Rooms are ok too.
Not suited for families and tourists. Business hotel.

I will try to be as objective as possible and only give constructive criticism but overall the hotel is not a good image of the brand best western. Try not to judge the brand on this one hotel as it is not a franchise!
Expect an ibis budget style hotel instead and you will be closer to reality and maybe a little less disappointed.
Check in went smoothly, staff very pleasant, polite and helpful. The common area (bar/lounge/restaurant area/reception desk) was modern and welcoming.
We were on third floor. It is pretty cold in the corridors (late october) and from the room you can feel the draught come in under door. Maybe a draught stopper for door would be a simple and good solution.
The rooms are fairly small not suitable for families even though they provide travel cots for you which is nice of them. (We were in an executive room).
Everything is designed for one person (buisnessmen i guess) whether it be the one pair of slippers and dressing gown to the one sachet of coffee or the one paper cup they provide in room. There is nowhere to put clothes if you are here for more than a couple of nights (8 coat hangers in total) but to be honest there is no space really for it anyway. It feels cramped. On the plus side the room was clean and well decorated, bed is comfy.
Small Things I would change to make it more practical:
- add a welcoming guidebook with practical hotel info in room, we didnt have one in ours.
- swap paper cups for actual china cups/glasses in rooms for drinks and make sure they are the right size for your nespresso machine.
- Put a multi plug adaptor for use of coffee machine and kettle at the same time.
- make sure there is enough tea/coffee/milk and sugar for two people when room is booked for a couple!
The bathroom was also spotless. However, water takes far too long to get hot for a hotel, and when taking shower even with bathroom door closed the water went everywhere, under the door and through to the bedroom.
Breakfast was ok. Nothing special. The cheese and ham weren’t particularly mouthwatering to look at and didn’t taste like good quality products but the bread and viennoiseries were good.
After our first night at hotel we left the “please do not disturb” hanger on door as we were in the room getting ready. We left our room at 12pm to go to the bar area and changed the sign to indicate that we would like our room to be done. The room maids were still there cleaning rooms until 1pm (we saw them!). Reception also knew we were in the bar area so room was empty. When we returned later that evening our room had not been done at all. We let reception know and their logic is that the “do not disturb” sign means “don’t clean my room”. The maids had seen the sign but hadn’t gone back to check a little later and reception hadn’t let them know we weren’t in room either. For us this is a bad communication problem between room service and reception.
A simple phone-call to room to check if we would like it to be cleaned would avoid problems like this. Obviously we would have understood it not being cleaned if we had left our room after the maids had finished their shift!
This was the disappointing part of our stay.
It’s clearly a business hotel, not a leisure hotel for families or tourists wanting to stay on the outskirts of paris. It could be a good stopover point but if you have a lot of luggage you will lack space.

We stayed for 2 nights while we attended the Ryder Cup on Sunday 30th September. Good informative welcome, very comfortable room with everything needed for a short stay, and a restaurant serving the best cheeseburger I have ever eaten. Breakfast too, outstanding, very good value all round.
The staff were exemplary, a smile from ever single one over a very busy weekend, led by example by the extremely competent manageress.
Thank you to everyone concerned...with a special mention for Diego!
Would certainly recommend for a stay in this area.
