Not Marriott standard

Parking bad! Room not clean. Called down sheets were dirty. They did give us free breakfast, only because I said something the next morning about the sheets!!! The night girl didn’t even put anything on her report! Not good. Positive note: breakfast was good. Hash browns are delicious!

Farewell, Morgantown Marriott....I won't be back.

Reviewed 19 september, 2021

I reviewed this property several years ago, when it was a solid 5-star experience for me (brand new, clean, wonderful room, working AC, etc.). This most recent stay was different. I had recommended this place to my entire team at work and it turned out to be a complete letdown for so many of us. The AC on the 6th floor was not working, and talking to several team members, the same appeared to be the case on other floors. It was humid and hot, I don't think our room was ever under 80 degrees (day/night). The pool: Don't use it, unless you want to get poisoned. My daughter used it and her dark blue bikini is now the lightest blue of shade there is. Also, her hair is severely damaged from the chlorine - many treatments necessary to get it under control. The floors in the bedroom and bathroom were filthy. I walked around in white socks and after just one hour they were so dirty I had to throw them out. I'm not sure the sheets were changed prior to our arrival. I brought up my complaints to management and received a "so sorry you had a bad experience" email. I won't be back, and chances are my team members won't be back either. The only highlight was the waitress in the hotel restaurant - she was great, and she is the only reason why I'm giving this place two stars instead of one.

Great location, but dog owners beware

Sadly, unless something changes with management, I won't be back. I wouldn’t write a review except for the dog thing (see below) but now that I’m here, a note of caution. As of August 16th, 2021 (now the 20th), the a/c does not work. I asked my coworkers if they had a problem, thinking it was just my room, but it’s apparently a hotel issue. If you want a sleepable temperature at night, put the “a/c” on 60 degrees. It will at least get to a temperature where most can sleep. It’ll still be humid though, regardless of what you do. Bring a fan! So, the dog thing. I chose here (work trip) because they allow dogs, it’s right by the river, all my other coworkers stayed here, and I get Marriott points. Pretty bizarre though, dogs have been welcome at the bar and patio all week until today (this is my 5th night). I extended my trip to have a semi-vacation and went downstairs to breakfast this morning (and finally enjoy a non-gas-station breakfast) and my pup and I were turned away. We couldn’t even sit on the outdoor patio and the place was empty. Now it’s evening and we just went downstairs for a glass of wine but the lady again turned us away, saying the manager said absolutely no dogs anywhere. So we’re confined to our room and it makes for a sour ending to an otherwise nice trip. My pup and I thankfully know the area and had a nice time hiking and dining elsewhere so we at least had a good day and a full belly. If you're okay only going back and forth to your room with your dog, then I do recommend it here. All the surrounding restaurants that are walkable on the path are very dog-friendly. The coffee shop a couple doors down even lets them inside with you.

Nice, newer hotel. Pleasant staff. Nice spot on the river. We've stayed there three times in the past few months. Issue...the WVU building across the street is working virtually, and because of their lost business, the hotel deprives guests of full service by closing their Starbucks, and limiting days the bar and hotel restaurant is open. Monday is particularly bad, because the nearby restaurants are also closed.

few days

We checked in on a Tuesday afternoon, there were three of us to a room. room was clean and comfortable and shower was very nice. Elevators were very slow but the hotel was full. Grounds were beautiful and very close to everything, which was nice. Only complaint was front desk clerk was rude and was always on her phone for personal business, because everyone could hear her.
