I will summarise and this is not dumbed down:
Hotel based in middle of nowhere.
All staff speak very minimal English.
Everywhere full of ants.
The hotel was basically empty of occupants.
First morning breakfast (ate only a packet of chips previous evening prior to check in) after 2 hours left me bed bound with severe food poisoning for 3 days and I saw none of Chiang Mai (food was semi warm was a clear sign). Breakfast served 7am-10am, I turned up at 9.30am, clearly had been sat out all morning.
Spent money in pharmacy on mediation including antibiotics and told reception they laughed and said 'nobody else sick'.
I've never experienced a hotel like it and worst food poisoning I've ever had.
Despite already paid for more nights I checked out early once i had the energy to leave my room!
Thanks for ruining my Chiang Mai and basically most of Thailand holiday.
What goes around comes around and I really hope this helps stop people coming to this place.
Not As Good As We'd Hoped

This hotel was found on the internet so we based our opinion on the details and photographs provided. We also arrived after sunset so we didn't get the full extent of what the place was like until the following morning.
The Life Grand is ideally situated away from the main city by about 6km's. It is adjacent to one of the ring-road/highways that circumnavigate around Chiang Mai.
This was our intention as it was quiet, still convenient and also we could travel in and out without getting stuck in Chiang Mai's horrendous traffic jams around the inner city.
The hotel was extremely basic. Not as indicated in the photo's from the internet!
Despite the booking sites showing this establishment as a 4-star hotel, I cannot believe that it really is?
The reception was just an office room. It was necessary to go back outside to get to the stairs or elevators for accessing the rooms.
The rooms were ok. Nowhere as near as grand as indicated in the photographs.
The room was air-conditioned.
Everything looked quite fresh so my guess was this was a fairly new hotel? It was certainly clean.
The main bedroom area was adjacent to a sitting area with a small sofa and TV.
The bathroom area was through a sliding door into a kind of kitchen area... It contained a sink and a fridge, however, the fridge didn't contain anything.
There was no coffee/tea facilities but there was one bottle of mineral water - warm!
Overall the room was fine. It was comfortable enough and clean. Whilst basic and lacking in any 'facilities' it was ok for the duration of our stay.
The following morning it was possible to see more, mmm...
The hotel was indeed quite new as it seemed to be standing in the middle of a demolition site!?
The areas all around the hotel were plain concrete. There were some other buildings nearby which were derelict.
The only garden area was a space which looked like a vegetable plot.
We went down for breakfast, an area which was sited a little way away from the hotel at the side. This again was just sited in an unpaved concrete area.
There was a swimming pool, (very small), and a restaurant dining building.
Again, it looked quite new and tidy.
Seating was available inside and out and breakfast was of the buffet style.
There was an array of foods available from Thai or Thai Chinese. The only western foods were fried eggs, hot-dogs and bread... and it was all cold! Ugh!
Tea and coffee were provided but this didn't really stack up to what we believed was a 4-star hotel...
Overall is was ok. At least it was clean and comfortable.
Prices were good so perhaps that was an indicator of what was to come - a lower end but tidy hotel ideally situated out off the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai's very busy city!

Stayed here for 3 nights, the hotel was designed brilliantly. Our room was very big, bed was comfortable, good shower and there was absolutely no noise. The staff were very nice, I had a crisis with my phone and needed to use a computer, the lovely man on reception allowed me to use it for 5 minutes which I really appreciated, would definitely come back and will definitely recommend. Thank you for making our stay great!
Nice place but needs a better choice of food and drinks

We stayed here for two nights.
The location is far from the city but that’s obvious when booking . We used Uber it cost about B$ 130 to the city
The rooms are clean
They have a breakfast bar if you book with breakfast included.
And from 11:00 to 14:00 they offer a lunch menu and room service but when we stayed this option was not open due to a staff meeting .
The reception sells water
A local 7:11 is 400 meters walk
Local bar 200 meters
The pool is small

Very good hotel. 8 floor. Have TV, kitchen, sofa toilet with modern shower. New hotel .low price. Ahh. Have pool and breakfast included. The staff ok. Have parking free. Big bed.white blanket. You can go .don't worry. It is very good
