More about the hotel
Nice hotel, couple disappointments
We didn't have any issues with our stay. It is a nice hotel and about ten minutes outside of downtown which is a great spot. We were disappointed that the hotel room didn't have a microwave. Also, we were looking forward to breakfast at the two rivers cafe only to find out in the morning that it was closed. It would have been nice to have been made aware of that before we went down for breakfast. The atrium bar was open so I don't understand why the cafe was not.
A Visit to TSU and Nashville
Check-in was pretty easy. They didn't offer or extend an upgrade to us although we are Diamond members. They did allow us to do an early check in around 2:00pm. They didn't even try to upgrade us. They just told us it wasn't available. There is no way to really know, you just have to hope the front desk clerk is being honest. With the Gov't rate, I don't think properties like upgrading members, but that shouldn't be the fault of the Government/Military Employee. They did offer a free appertizer at check-in which was really cool. The bartender was really cool, and helpful. Food was great at the bar. Breakfast was a JOKE and should not even be given out unless they want to offer more than a cold blueberry muffin. The room was decent, but nothing to write home about. The standard Hilton layout. Will probably stay again, there are tons of other choices in Nashville.
Understanding of the virus; however, they still could have handled it better
I am very understanding of the virus and the fact that with it comes limited amenities and services at the moment, while our country works to get back on track. However, I feel that my stay could have been handled better. First, the good points. This hotel has 14 floors and is located just a short 8 to 10 minute drive from the airport. They do have a free airport shuttle during reasonable hours. Parking at the hotel is $10.00 per night with in and out privileges easy with your key card. The service at the front desk was cordial and nice (however, they could have handled status better - see below). Our room was located on Floor 13 (1309). The room was relatively quiet, the air conditioning worked wonderful and you couldn't hear that much outside highway noise. The room was spacious with a comfortable king bed, in room coffee, refrigerator, and a nice shower in the bathroom. The room was very clean. As of now, the executive lounges was closed and the restaurants were closed except for limited hours for the bar in the evening and limited hours for a grab and go morning option in the lobby. As Hilton Honors Gold Members, I know that our "extras" come with stipulations on "if they are available"; however, I would have at least appreciated recognition and some concessions. When we arrived for check-in, no upgrade was offered even though upgrades were available. Upgrades were available on the website up to 2 hours prior to my arrival either to a suite or executive floor room and that was not offered. Our gold status was not even mentioned. Also, our "My Way" benefit is breakfast. The restaurant is currently closed for breakfast; however, if it were to be open we would have received complimentary continental breakfast. I truly feel that the appropriate way to handle this, would have been to offer some sort of grab and go option in the morning hours at the station that was set up (Example: Maybe some juice, a muffin and a banana in a bag to go). It would have been nice to offer something; however, when I asked nothing was offered. When things return to normal, if my travels needed me to stay by the Nashville airport again, I would return; however, I am disappointed in the service that was provided.
Great Hotel
Really enjoyed my stay here. I came in right after the tornado and there were, as expected, a lot of issues. They handled things well and were very kind and helpful. They also have a great bar at this location.
Tornado Scare / Excellent Hotel
Never expected while I was in Nashville that I would be in the midst of a tornado. Happened to be in the hotel early Tuesday morning when the warning came out about the devestating tornado that would hit the area, with tragic consequences. The hotel clearly directed where to evacuate to ( i was on the 13th floor) and everything was down in a very orderly fashion. My thanks to the staff. As for the hotel check in was very easy and the staff courteous. Clean throughout. Room was clean, bed comfy as well as the pillows. The bar lounge area was a great place for me and my team to gather at the end of the day and the service was good. We are Diamond members and using the lounge on the second floor was a winner for us. Served breakfast, had plenty of coffee and beverages throughout the day, delivered appetizers at end of day and small desert tray and the room had everything we needed. Made our gathering that much better. Already looking forward to my next visit.
