Hostal Alhambra

We stayed at Hostal Alhambra and could not have been happier the room was perfect comfy bed and excellent shower, a hair dryer is supplied too, location. is perfect and we spent most of our time at the bar below which is Spanish but very friendly, the staff are very helpful we will be back again

I cannot recommend this hostal highly enough. In a great location, just a few minutes walk from the beach, the old town and loads of good bars and restaurants, one of the best being right outside. The room we were in was spotlessly clean and had a traditional Spanish feel to it. Many thanks to Veronica and Raoul for being so helpful.

Small hotel quite centrally located in Nerja city. Clean and pretty spacious rooms, a little muffy though when entering but quickly solved with airco/opening the doors. Nice view to the street and in the distance the sea. Pleasant surprise, good price. Restaurants all around.

booked this hotel for four days prior to our villa holiday-excellent receptionist,very clean and nice,even a small fridge in the room and coffee making facilities in the lounge area,pretty central., 5-10 min walk into town. there is a bar underneath which does snacks and drinks,mainly used by the locals which suited us,does not get rowdy and we looked down on it from our balcony! there were unfortunately some British idiots that thought it was funny to come back early hours of the morning shouting and swearing but than can happen in any hotel,you cannot blame the hotel for us British. the only thing to be careful of is booking a taxi,we wanted to book in advance for when we left on the day but the receptionist told us he would book when we checked out as they came within 5-10 mins,he did so, and helped us carry our bags down to the pick up in front of the hotel as the lift was broken,however, the taxi had not come after 30 mins so the receptionist checked with them again,very good service by the hotel. UNFORTUNATELY, the service by the taxi firm which were called Nerja Taxis was not so good,despite taking 40 mins to arrive,the meter starts at 3.80 euro,and when we arrived at our villa in Frigiliana showed 18.40,he made 2 phonecalls during the journey and charged us 30 euro,so much for metered taxis!!! there are several taxi firms which call themselves Nerja Taxis so be wary-we use the taxi rank by Mercadona which I think is also known as Nerja Taxis but they charged the metered amount which was between 16.50 and 16.70 for the same journey,pity I did not have their number,with luggage and shopping we left to hotel to book for us but that is not their fault that the taxi firm ripped us off. I also checked with the Tourist Office in the centre of Nerja but they were not interested,just shrugged and said different taxi firms-when I challenged regarding metering as the taxi was metered,just said they can charge what they want!!!

We booked a superior room which was very nice. Clean and tidy with good toiletries in the bathroom. Lovely terrace overlooking the street - great for people watching. 5-10 minutes from the main town. Would have been nice to have tea/coffee or water in the room for the price we paid. No breakfast but lots of places nearby to eat. Lovely staff. Only complaint was how noisy it was on the Friday night music finally stopped at 4.30 am. Lots of free parking in nearby streets.
