Wonderful
We needed a place for 2 months while our apt. was being remodeled. First two weeks were fabulous. We meet many French and Russian speaking fellow guests. Then the Covid lockdown happened. We were the only short term renters at the hotel. The few staff members left have been wonderful. Management has been very accommodating. We plan to be here a few more weeks. We recommend the place to all, especially if you have children. Just a short walk to the beach, restaurants (hopefully, to reopen soon) and shops.
We will be back!!!
Our experience at the Margoa Hotel was exceptional. Due to a family emergency we arrived on a one-day notice; initially we had a rather small room, with a very small bathroom, but after the fully-booked weekend, we got upgraded to a large corner suite with an enormous balcony and terrific view of the sea. The bathroom was large and very comfortable, the "kitchen corner" had a good-size fridge. The breakfast buffet was more than plenty, with a great choice of tasty items. The twin-lady servers, Carmela & Tikva make you feel as "one of the family", going out of their way to make sure you have all you need, and more!!! The administrative personnel is very friendly, helpful & compessionate. Our chambermaid Agnes was kind and good at findings things we thought lost.
Just not for us
We stayed here 2 nights after our 3 nights at Kikar. This room was extremely old...paint peeling from everywhere. It was clean enough. Shower was hot. We pushed the twin beds together to have more walking room in the tiny space. Breakfast was gross to us. Not presented orderly and way too many flies on the all food for us to eat anything other than individual yogurts. Coffee was horrible! Had to go out to purchase it. IF you stay here, don’t include breakfast. We wished we had just stayed our last two nights at the Kikar. Location is convenient.
For Mostly French/Russian speaking Travelers
Meant to write this over 6 months ago, but forgot! Came with another lady friend independently to host a group of Seniors for a meal, and yes, it is NOT a luxury hotel, but I found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. Only a few I came in contact with spoke much English, but they did their best to assist us, even introducing us to a group of French people on a tour so we could have companions for breakfast! Thank goodness for Google Translate! The room was fine, clean and with all the necessary amenities, and the breakfast was good. But the Coffee was the best - real coffee, thank goodness! And good location, just across from the beach, so that was great. A small family-run hotel, which is what I prefer anyway.
Like staying with family!
This family run hotel was an amazing gem--like staying at your favorite aunt's house. The location is a half block to the best beach for miles around. With a free elevator to the beach, access was simple and convenient. We fully enjoyed our patio off our room, as well as the comfort and size room we stayed in. If you want to experience amazing hospitality -- stay at Margoa! They had a lot of pride and enjoyment in serving their guests. The food was amazing -- so many choices and the staff was so friendly and helpful. The soup was delicious. We enjoyed sitting family style and ability to mingle with other guests over a leisurely meal. I highly recommend staying here...only regret is that we couldn't stay more nights...next time!
