I chose this hotel because it was CHEAP, close to Harrisburg International Airport, and reviews here & on competitor’s websites were largely positive. Let me start by saying the gentleman who checked me in was friendly & efficient and wished me a good stay. The hotel is quite antiquated & I believe it MAY be populated by a transient population. I personally experienced no problems with this, but the immediate hotel grounds are sketchy looking. This hotel is a retro hotel and pretty dilapidated. The window blinds had cracks in them, no deadbolt on the door (flimsy chain lock only), old looking bedspreads and curtains, paper thin/dingy looking towels, cracks around the tub/shower tiles. Lightfixtures from the 60's. The floors were some kind of wood laminate or lacquered plywood that felt somewhat sticky to my bare feet. On the plus side, they do have the room well equipped with a coffee maker, small fridge, small toothpaste AND 2 toothbrushes, soap/shampoo, an iron/ironing board, big widescreen TV and cable, modern charging station adjacent to the bed, and the heat worked well. The bed was ok, the pillows were poor. (I pulled the bedspread off the bed - while it might have been clean it was just too retro/old looking for me to trust it’s cleanliness). I did not use the shower or any facilities other than the tv. I slept ok because I was exhausted. It is obvious that the cleaning staff does a decent job of keeping the room as clean as possible, given the quality level of the hotel/room. I will say it was quiet here overnight, and the area surrounding the hotel is not "sketchy" as there is really nothing much around! It would be very hard to find at night without GPS. If you are looking for a very inexpensive hotel in the area & have no need for the safety/amenities provided by most chain hotels, you may like the place. They seem to be trying to provide good value at a low price.
Quaint Stay - I felt completely safe but I travel solo alot

The fella at the front office is super duper efficient and nice. I found the amenities to be considerable: flat screen TV, alarm clock, blow dryer, microwave, frig, coffee maker, A/C, iron/board, towels, toiletries ( including TOOTHBRUSHES), ICE MACHINE, ice bucket, cups. WiFi signal is fantastic.
The sink water was hot, but the shower water fluctuated between tepid and room temp.
There is on site laundry which is probably where all the hot water went.
NOTE: You can't use the blow dryer and microwave at the same time or it will trip the breaker.
This images of the property on this site are accurate.

Let me start by saying that the gentleman that checked us in was super nice. The motel on the other hand was, "just okay". The worst sleep ever, the highway is right there and you hear everything. My 2nd biggest issue was the extended stay guest and you could tell that's what they are. There was this one guy that was sitting in his car forever doing nothing that made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The room itself needed some extra attention but for 1 night it was fine, unfortunately I would never visit again.
Lived up to the review!

I checked quite a few reviews for similar motels and they were very disappointing
but once i checked into Highland Inn I realized they were far and away much better
than most of the motels in the same price range for the greater Harrisburg area.
Also Mr. Ford the manager and the cleaning lady went out of their way to make
sure that my stay was very pleasant. You definitely get your monies worth at Highland Inn.
Nice people terrible Motel

There are so many things wrong with this place. First and foremost it is not a safe place to stay the electrical system in this Motel is exposed and would not pass any professional inspection. The doors do not have safety chains nor peepholes. The television did not work because the cable was out for non-payment that's what it said on the screen anyway. The clientele at the motel were a little sketchy. I could go on and on about this Motel but in the interest of brevity save your money go elsewhere. The attached photos saved it all.
