We wanted to stay near the Santa Fe central plaza and the hotel was located convenient near it! That's a plus for location. The room was charming - love the decor. The bed was comfortable too. Only minor frown -- small bathroom but all good! Happy for the warm shower! :)
Charming hotel with insufficient parking, unhelpful front desk employee

Charming, quaint older hotel is near the Santa Fe central plaza. Our deluxe “king fireplace” room was sufficient with lots of character and very comfortable bed. But, there was dirt in the windowsills when we opened windows for fresh air because air conditioning is pretty noisy. Windows needed cleaning, as well. Unfortunately there are only stairs to the buildings (there are two) upper levels, and amount of parking is insufficient. Front desk staff were NOT helpful about where to park when there was none at the hotel (how about a map of some kind, with an apology?). Don’t know what the $25/day “resort fee” was for- insufficient parking? A non-existent gym? Very nice outdoor patio areas could use more tables & chairs for lounging around. Housekeeping staff was was accommodating for extra towels and coffee pods, which were lacking when we checked in. DON’T ask front desk staff for any favors, there’s quite an “attitude” there with no direct answers or promises. This would not be a good place to stay if mobility challenged, elevator only goes to parking garage & the ONLY ice machine! The attached bar “Low and Slow” had great beer, pizza & “vibe”. Even though this hotel wasn’t perfect, it’s a great location. With so much competition I think they need to “clean up their act” a bit!

t was nice to return to the Hotel Chimayo for its convenient location in the center of Santa Fe. its general cleanliness and the very friendly staff. However, while I understand that as we move forward from the Covid pandemic that service staff may be limited; I do not understand why, knowing the hotel would be full and parking inadequate at best of times; no arrangements had been made for overflow parking. We were eventually instructed to park many blocks away and that parking tickets would be (partially) covered by the hotel. It was almost as difficult to arrange to pick up replacement towels and cups at the front desk. Yet, despite the lack of services, room prices were at a premium

This has got to be the best place in downtown Santa Fe to stay, and we have stayed at La Fonda before. Hotel Chimayo beats it hands down. The location is second to none. It has a great restaurant, and a terrific bar. The square is no more than a block away. The from desk staff was outstanding. We stayed here for 3 days and I wish we could've stayed for a week. We will DEFINITELY be back!!!
