Another Marriott still charging pre-pandemic rates while slashing services & amenities.

Reviewed 25 november, 2021

All Hotel chains are using the pandemic as a way to continue charging pre-pandemic rates while RUSHING to slash service & amenities & Marriott continues to lead the pack. Immediately upon check-in you are advised that housekeeping "will not be coming by rooms" NO MATTER the length of your stay. If you need something you are supposed to call. Restaurant only open -- perhaps -- for breakfast. Rooms look tired & worn. Even though we are Bonvoy elite members we do not remember the last time a Marriott property even mentioned the option for an upgrade, including this property although occupancy was LOW. Overall just another mediocre Marriott, charging high-than-justified rates, with non-existent service. The ONLY pro was the front desk staff who were polite, pleasant & helpful.

Pros and Cons

Reviewed 22 october, 2021

Great location, our go to hotel. Inconsistent, sadly looking a little tired, mattresses old, uncomfortable. No offer of upgrade even though gold. Corporate was visiting and staff focused on them, Local staff followed covid protocols. Not sure coporate did, and many clients didn't.

family trip

My family and I had a wonderful. The Hotel is very clean ( we stayed in a Suite) The Hotel is down the block of French Quarters , so many places to eat and transportation are nearby. I would like to say one of the front desk ladies name OSA was very helpful and accommodating to us. Jet Blue canceled our flight at the last minute and we couldn't book a flight until the next day. She was so helpful in letting us pay for our room for one more day and let us leave at a later check out (12:00). She gave us an extra towels and cloths and told us they can call a car for us to take us to the airport. Osa went way and beyond. She notices how I was upset how our flight was canceled and the way she took care of everything made everything better. The only thing I would recommend. before booking a trip to New Orleans is to call in advance to see things are open before deciding to bring children with you. Some places were closed. You can do some sightseeing with them. More children friendly thing to do is the Zoo, Children's Museum, and Aquarium (this was opened)

Beautiful stay, except for the parking snag

Reviewed 8 august, 2021

This hotel is beautiful and in the perfect location for seeing everything New Orleans has to offer. I would rate my stay excellent except for the parking snag. I had three rooms for 3 nights. My mother and I flew in, and my son and daughter each drove cars in. We did the hotel's $43+tax valet for the first night since the two drivers arrived late, but we found cheaper parking the next day after lunch and moved the cars. Upon checking out, I was told the receipt would be emailed. I asked to see the bill because I wanted to make sure the parking charges were correct. I had been charged for 3 nights of parking on all 3 rooms, even though we only had 2 cars parked for one night. I had to wait for the man in charge of valet to bring his records up, and he said, "Well when you took the cars on Saturday, did you tell them you weren't coming back?" I had to call my daughter to ask her, but how are guests supposed to know that they are going to continue to be charged unless they say, "Hey, I'm not coming back." Typically when you take your car from valet parking, that's the end of the charges. It was explained to me that this hotel allows in and out with your car, so you have to tell them you are not bringing your car back. How are guests supposed to know this? Maybe they should post a sign or something. The parking charges were adjusted, but I had to wait there at the front desk for a while in order to do so. There were also a couple of indicators that the room wasn't properly cleaned: a wrapper in the nightstand drawer, and a silicone bracelet under the bed. Other than this, our stay was lovely.

Lovely stay. Beautiful hotel. Pleasant and very helpful staff. Shout out to Ms. Shelita Foe. I hope I’m spelling your name correctly. She was fabulous. She helped to book us some tours and provided us with some great places to eat and visit.
