BEWARE OF OVER CHARGING!

I recently stayed at this hotel and it was supposed to be a 4 night visit. Unfortunately, someone at home got very sick and we had to leave a day early. We changed our flight and were going to have to leave hotel at 3:30 am. I went to front desk night before leaving and spoke with two gentleman letting them know the situation and asking them if it would be a problem. I stated that I would Ike to just be able to leave and not have to stop at desk would that be okay. He assured me he changed my check out date for the next morning and I would be fine with not stopping. We then went over all room charges to ensure my bill would be accurate. I prepaid hotel and was assured I would receive a refund for the day I was not staying which was almost $500 a night for our suite. I am a month later with no refund! I have spoke to accounting, billing and a manager named Sarah who all ensured me they would fix it and I would receive the refund. Shame on them for not giving me correct information!! If I had to go to desk then I should have been told that and if I was not going to get the refund after I talked to three different people after the fact then I should have been told that instead of yes I will receive it. How can you charge people that are not even staying there? The fact that our room was NOT up to par for the price they charge, not clean, bad odor, lamp shade with holes, dirty windows for a room that you book for the view, a bath tub that is peeling and doesn’t get hot water (was fine using the second one though) was not even an issue or brought up during stay as the staff had been so friendly and helpful it overrode it and we weren’t in there much…. BUT the over charging is NOT acceptable! Do not make the same mistake I did and trust that what they say will happen. GET YOUR RECEIPT. I learned a $500 lesson! Not to mention will never return to this hotel!

We booked 4 rooms for us and our children/grandchildren during the MLK extended weekend. We had specific requests like adjoining rooms, some with 2 double beds, others with a king, etc. Initially, our rooms weren't on the same floor. Daniel Shaw worked magic, was very patient with us, made changes, and exceed our expectations with all of the accommodations. Remarkable service! I got in a day before the rest of the family. When Daniel did his thing, I wound up moving to a new room--but I accidentally left some items in the old room. Thats when Carri Wellington came in. At first, no one could locate the items. Then, Carri went out of her way to track the them down. When they were found, she saw me in the restaurant and hand delivered them to me. She was gracious, kind and persistent. Again, excellent service! My family and I will definitely return to this hotel. In addition to the service, the location is great, we had wonderful views of the Mississippi. We didn't get the names of the wait staff in the restaurant, but they were wonderful to our large family and the food is wonderful.

Dirty. Smelled like weed 24 hrs a day. Loud. Sketchy people. Was not safe in the French quarter. Not good for families at all………………………..,.will not be back to New Orleans. Used to come 2-3 times a year. Not anymore

I chose this hotel for the majority of my stay in New Orleans for the past four months. Consistency and quality are primary reasons for my choosing this hotel over any other. Most importantly, the staff are consistently friendly and outgoing. They greet me by name and I don’t expect that, but it’s so nice to feel at home while away from home a long time. A special shout out to Shevon at the front desk. She had professionalism and empathy down pat. She is the kind of employee that puts the extra polish on a brand to make it stand out as exemplary. The rooms are consistently and thoroughly clean. I enjoyed the corner room with a river and city view. The valets and bellmen are superb. I really enjoyed them at the beginning and end of every work day. The M Club staff are very efficient and friendly. Lavina is a cheerful and hard working breakfast server. She truly cares about the guests. If there is one thing I could suggest: please teach the cooks how to grill a steak to the correct temperature. After numerous “misses”in four months, it isn’t a fluke. It is a a chronic shortcoming. Rare is a cool red center. Medium rare is a warm red center. The steaks come out overdone. Other than that, I find no significant flaw. The New Orleans Mariott is located in the heart of downtown and at the edge of the French Quarter. Close to shopping, casino and restaurants. The location of this hotel was perfect. Centrally located and walking distance to just about everything we did. The rooms were cleaned daily. The rooms were on the smaller side, but we only slept there so not a problem. A nice and affordable burger joint at the entrance.
