Hotel cancelled and did not refund deposit
I booked my Oct 2020 reservation in March, and paid the $275 first night deposit. I got an email from the hotel on 9/20/20 that they were not opening in the fall and cancelled my reservation. I never got my deposit back. I called the hotel, the number was not in service. I emailed and messaged the hotel, no response. Hotels.com would not help me either. Now I am trying to get the credit card company to credit back the charge. Extremely frustrating and total lack of professionalism. I am disappointed with 414 Hotel as I was really looking forward to staying here. But that will not be happening now.
Beware if you book here and need to cancel
We booked this hotel pre covid, and had to cancel our reservation (end of march for an end of may stay) about 2 months in advance of our stay. We were told initially they needed a 'few' weeks to refund us, which was fine given the huge disruption caused by CV. We chased approx 5 weeks later and were told it would be another 25 to 45 days. In the end they never refunded our money which was around £2000 and we had to claim back via the credit card company which has only just been resolved. At no point did they update us without us having to chase them first. I can see now they are offering 'reservations made with the Package Rate Plan may be cancelled without penalty 72 hours prior to arrival'. we had a similar non penalty cancellation on our booking so my advice would be to be wary of this.
Charming boutique hotel off Restaurant Row in Hell's Kitchen
I love this charming little hotel. It is perfect if you want a place that is close to the Broadway district and Restaurant Row but don't want to stay right in the thick of things. It is quiet and on a charming side street. It reminds me of the smaller boutique hotels in Europe. No large scale amenities, but perfectly fine continental breakfast with cappuccino or espresso. Very easy and staff were friendly and helpful.
Best kept secret
This gem of a hotel is very well located. Friendly, welcoming staff. Cozy, very clean, comfortable and safe. I will go back and will recommend to others looking for a European style refuge. So happy with my stay.
Clean, friendly and a bit quirky!
Super staff with clean rooms and a good shower. We'll placed for town and theatres with plenty of restaurants on the doorstep. The breakfast is limited but adequate. Tea or coffee available all day and cheese and wine served early evening is a nice touch.
