Good place to stay for weekend NYC getaway

Went to NYC to enjoy re-opened Braodway , see some art exhibits, and have some dining adventures. This hotel is in a great location - if you like walking - you can get up to Union Square and Grammercy Park very easily, and to Times Square easily enough and you can get to lots of other places via public transit or cab/rideshare. We had a king bedroom with balcony on the 6th floor looking out on Park Ave. It was comfortable, quite large for NYC, and quiet. The hotel furniture etc is basic but nice. The TV seems a bit older and there is a lack of outlets by the bedside tables. But that is all very minor stuff. Overall this was a good base for exploring Manhattan. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

New favorite hotel in NYC

If you are looking for a "scene" and super-hip rooms, this is not the hotel for you. If you are looking for a smallish hotel, a nice-sized room (for NYC), a convenient location, and a serene environment, all at a reasonable price (for NYC), the Hotel Giraffe may suit you just fine. My husband and I traveled to NYC to visit adult children for a week in October. We stayed in a standard queen room for 2 nights, then moved to a suite so that we could both work/Zoom. Beds were comfortable, the windows were effective against NYC street noise, and the bathrooms were large, well-lit, and well-appointed. There are mini-fridges in the rooms, which is not mentioned on the website for some reason. Unlike many NYC hotels, everything seemed well-maintained and cared for. The lobby is like a large living room, furnished with tables and chairs, as well as sofas and easy chairs. We really appreciated the free snacks, as well as coffee/tea and bottled/bubbly water. The staff was consistently pleasant, professional and helpful. A special shout-out to Jose who appeared from nowhere to help me snag a cab at 6:30 AM.

To celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday, we had a nine-day trip to New York planned for May of 2020, staying at the Giraffe Hotel. Then came the pandemic, we couldn’t go on our trip and the hotel closed for Covid. We contacted the hotel and they kindly postponed our stay. After a 17 month delay, and after the hotel had reopened, we just returned from a fantastic stay. The Giraffe Hotel deserves kudos for being decent businesspeople and honoring our original pre-paid reservation. The hotel is perfectly located for about anything you might want to do or see in Manhattan. For meals, Eataly is two blocks away with great breakfast, lunch, or dinner options. Sarabeth’s on the corner is impressive and the restaurant associated with the hotel, Bread & Tulips, has the best roast chicken I have ever eaten. The staff was excellent, the snacks/drinks provided in the lobby were handy, and our room was spacious, clean and welcoming. All in all, the Hotel Giraffe was a great choice, and we will return!

Hotel Giraffe - Post-Covid feedback....Still highly recommend!

I stayed again at the Hotel Giraffe last week. This was our first trip back since the start of COVID, having typically gone twice a year on business. We were very pleased to see familiar faces and the same wonderful environment and service. The primary effects of COVID protocols in NYC mean no housekeeping for making your bed but you can get fresh towels or other needs...and the lobby breakfast and happy hour are not active at this time (lower rates reflect this change). That is a loss for sure but we still love this hotel and hope that the city will lift those mandates sometime down the road and the lobby service will resume. In the meantime I have already booked our return in April! Highly Recommend!

This is a GEM in NYC!!!

What a perfect hotel in NYC! We were in NYC for our son's first Fashion week show and needed a convenient and large room since we would have so many suitcases with couture clothing. We stayed in a King Suite, which was perfect! It felt like a little New York apartment. The bed was extremely comfortable too! The staff could not have been more helpful and sweet! We had a lot of deliveries prior to our arrival as well as during our stay and the staff let us know when a pack was delivered. We loved that there were always snacks, tea, coffee, water and lattes in the no charge which is really unheard of these days. The staff was always friendly and greeted us each time we came in or out of the hotel. We will definitely stay here again!
