Avoid - all but closed

Reviewed 25 june, 2022

Beware - this hotel has stopped most services and amenities. There is no room service catering, no laundry service, and the swimming pool is closed. The rooms are clean, a little tired, but bare, not even a pen and paper or any guidance on what is in the hotel - I think the answer is nothing much! There is soap and towels in the bathroom, but no amenity kit. The mini bar fridge is filthy and empty. There is a coffee machine and some coffee, but no tea or milk. There is an iron, but it has either melted nylon stuck to it or the surface coating has corroded, either way not usable. The staff, including the manager who I kept being referred to, are apologetic but clearly frustrated. I’ve never stayed at a Hilton where after a long haul flight I’m heading out to find food and a laundry service… I hope this stay gets better in the 7 days I am here but I think I will instead look to move. It hasn’t got better. So I head out to the laundry recommended by the hotel, and it closed an hour ago at 7pm. The staff don’t even know the times - if they had told me at check in when I had asked I would have made it on time. I then walked around other laundries to find they had also closed. I then went into the Hampton by Hilton, just one block away, cheaper and they have a laundry service, but by then it was too late for the overnight service - but too marks to the Hampton front desk staff for actually being very helpful, unlike the UN Hilton. More problems. The carpets are filthy in places. One area looked like the remains of a murder scene. The Skyline Lounge is permanently closed, so nowhere for Gold members and above to go and relax. And I’ve got light switches in the room without covers - shocking! So this is not a 4 star hotel, it is in a shoddy state and it is misrepresentation by Hilton to claim it is. Keeping everything closed with the excuse of Covid long after other hotels in the neighbourhood are fully operational, even in their own chain. Avoid.

Great stay

This is a lovely hotel beside the United Nations. Nice and quiet location. Staff are great especially Hibab in the Ambassadors grill. Very friendly and personable nothing was a problem to him was always smiling even when working on his own and very busy. Breakfast staff were very welcoming too and efficient. Ate for 3 nights in hotel for breakfast and dinner and every meal was very good.It was nice to have beds made and things replaced that we we’re running out of every day. We were here from England touring for our Ruby wedding anniversary and this was the best hotel we had stayed in so far. We used cabs and we also walked quite a bit too.

Great hotel and location

Reviewed 23 june, 2022

This was my 1st time staying at this hotel and 1st time I have stayed in the east side of the city and I was really surprised how much I preferred the location. Within walking distance of Central Park, Times Square and much quieter location in general. We had a great view of the city from our room. The room was large with 2 full size beds, a comfy chair and a chaise longue and a desk chair. Also had a fridge which was great for keeping drinks cool. Also had a safe. Staff were friendly and was wonderful to be greeted by a dog when going into the hotel. Didn't use the coffee shop. Looked a bit pricey but a few bagel shops around the corner. Loved the area and loved the hotel. Definitely my goto hotel whenever I'm back in New York.

Best hotel to get to know NYC from

Reviewed 20 june, 2022

My husband is a diamond member of the Hilton group so we have been searching for Hilton hotels in Manhattan and had chosen this hotel for our first trip to NYC. It was one of the best decisions we could make. The hotel is situation across the street from the United Nations HQ in East 44th street, midtown so basically right in the middle between east and west. Both parts of Manhattan was easily Accessible from here. The Grand Central Terminal is also 5 minutes by walk so the subway station is as right at our feet as well. We were upgraded to the 35th floor and had the most breathtaking view of the city EVER. The hotel is clean has nice bathroom and spacious rooms we could sleep like a baby, undisturbed without any noise coming from the hotel or from outside. The staff is very nice and friendly they take care of all your needs. We did not book breakfast but we had 36$ credit daily to spend in the bar or at the coffee shop which had a great Sortiment of cookies, coffee or egg dishes in the morning and salads in the afternoon. We highly recommend this hotel cause we would go back anytime as well.

Fab hotel, excellent location & friendly staff

Reviewed 10 june, 2022

This is a fantastic hotel which is ideally located for all we wanted. Only a 15/20 min walk into Times Square passing other landmarks on the way including grand central station. Easy walking distance to most attractions. We enjoyed the quietness of the area compared to the hustle bustle of times square and felt safe at all times. Staff were helpful and friendly from moment we arrived to minute we left - doormen helping with luggage, front of house staff very helpful - I wish I had for the ladies name as we spoke with her on reception every afternoon/early evening and she was always happy and helpful. We mentioned on arrival that we needed to keep medication cool and we’re going to keep them in the mini bar in the room - she arranged for a small fridge to be delivered to the room and it arrived before we did. The night before we left this same lady advised us on process for late check out - lucky for us the duty manager was sitting and he arranged it for us there and then. Nothing was too much bother and we were grateful for this. Luggage was stored safely on our last day whilst we waited to be collected. Previous posts mention rooms being dated - this was not our experience. We were located on the 40th floor - the views were just WOW!!! Especially at night all lit up, it was amazing. Rooms were always kept clean and tidy, toiletries replaced daily and no complaints from us. Corridors and public areas always immaculate. Wi-Fi throughout the hotel worked well and no issues for us with this. We even managed to run our Netflix account through the tv in the room. All in all this was a great hotel with fantastic staff and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others and will hopefully be back.
