UNACCEPTABLE!

Reviewed 19 september, 2020

Made a reservation on Marriott.com in July for this hotel for a reservation tonight (September 19th.) I arrived at the hotel only to find it completely black AND CLOSED. With a big sign hanging on the door closed for renovations. I’m sorry WHAT? How do you not let a guest who has a reservation know that the hotel isn’t open? I walked across the street to the Fairfield inn where the AMAZING front desk agent was able to get me a room at her property. I called Marriott right away and was told by the representative that when I made the reservation in July the hotel was ALREADY CLOSED AND WAS NOT OPENING UNTIL NEXT YEAR! How on earth does something like this happen? Thank god the hotel across the street has available rooms. What an unacceptable way to run a business.

Night Before Flight

Reviewed 5 march, 2020

I stayed the night before vacation with my girlfriend and her daughter. Rooms are spacious and clean. Although there is no restaurant, we were able to buy wraps from hotel store to heat up in room that were quite good. They also sell beer and wine. The shuttle was fine both to and from the airport. If you are staying the night before a flight and leaving your car parked at the hotel while you are gone, make sure to call for reservations with a parking package. It is much cheaper that way.

Springhill Suites Newark Airport - a solid value with good people ( Thanks Raul)

Reviewed 27 february, 2020

I stay here when i visit Newark. The hotel is clean and up to Springhill standards. Large clear TV's in rooms, clean and comortable rooms. It's a busy bustling hotel right next to the airport and you will hear jets taking off and landing consistently. You can see them from the one side, which I like. This hotel is a good value for the condition and location ( good clean room in the city of Newark). You can drive if you have a car or uber to Newark Penn Station ( 5-7 min) and catch a Path train there to the Freedom Tower in Manhattan and boom you are in the city in 40 min for a round trip of $5.50 and parking at Newark Penn Station ( $20) or uber fee. When I used it, the Path train ran 24/7. Parking for a night at the hotel is $12 I think and that is also reasonable. I believe there is a shuttle from the hotel to Newark Penn Station, but I did not use that. Raul at the front desk was particularly helpful to me on my last stay. I had forgotten something important in my room and checked out and he jumped right on it, making sure the room was not cleaned until I returned and retrieved it. It was above and beyond to make sure it got done right. The hotel is undergoing renovations on some floors at this time. They are changing a lot of the rooms to the classic Springhill see the TV from the desk and the bed rather than the TV being behind you and the desk by the door orientation. A smart move. There are rooms of both types so be aware. I find the rooms clean and comfortable and will continue to frequent this hotel. Thanks Raul!

Nice place to stay

Reviewed 12 february, 2020

Overall, a nice place to stay. Once the current construction is completed, this should be a very nice place to stay. However, the construction does not detract from the environment or service. Gloria, from the front desk was especially helpful with directions and obtaining a good meal close by. Even thought the roads are a bit challenging to navigate to the hotel, I would stay there again.
