Comfy, perfect location, and reasonably priced!

Amazing location, short walking distance to everything! Reasonable prices. Staff was super friendly and helpful! Breakfast is complimentary and many choices. We loved watching the sunset from the rooftop patio! Room was very clean and had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again!

Charming hotel in great location!

Alan took great care of me and made me feel like a welcomed and valued guest. Both he and Warren were friendly, helpful and kind. Bay Shores Peninsula is a charming hotel with all the amenities I need, and easy beach access! My room was very clean and comfortable. The staff suggested I go check out the sun deck. When I finally did, I understood why they were so excited for me to see it. It's absolutely stunning. I plan to stay at Bay Shores Peninsula Hotel whenever I visit the Newport Beach area in the future, and I'm recommending it to all my friends.

Late May 2022

I spent three nights May 17-20, taking advantage of a good air fare and lower hotel rates ahead of busy Memorial Day. I also visited in March. The hotel has become part of Pacifica Hotels, with some 40 properties, mostly in California. This has brought a few changes. A modest resort fee, $20/night for parking in the hotel's tiny lot, but not much more. A kitchen and seating area with breakfast food remains the same. Parking on local streets remains somewhat challenging, with free spaces most available in late afternoon, least earlier in the day. This can put a damper on notions of driving somewhere. The neighborhood is fortunately walkable for everything from restaurants to supermarket (Pavilions; consider Target in Costa Mesa for better prices without membership requirements). Two surf shops, 15th Street (2 locations, one at Pavilions) and Jack's, are near. The iconic Frog House is 2 miles north. Costa Mesa has quite a lot of shopping, including the beginner-inviting Almond Surfboards. Bay Shores Peninsula has well cared-for rooms with refrigerators but no microwaves, accessible outlets for USB cables, and lots of towels (beach towels at the office). There was a hose available at the rear of the hotel for washing feet, footgear, wetsuits, whatever. Possibly now shut off for water restrictions. The roof deck remains a desirable feature.

Very Pleasant Experience!

It’s easy to see why this hotel gets great reviews! Friendly service, clean and nice rooms, and a rooftop view of sunset were our favorite things. The continental breakfast is nothing to write home about and there is some traffic noise, but we would not hesitate to stay here again!

Horribly overrated. Not at all what we expected for 5 stars.

Just look at everyone's room photos. This hotel is an old, gross 3-story walk-up that feels like sleeping in some grandmother’s house. We stepped in and saw that the towel rack had dents, our carpet was old and the room was musty. Overall dingy during our stay. If you want quality, freshness and something clean, go someplace else. If you want a cookie, stay here. We booked here because of all the 5 star reviews, never again.
