I was charged the full price for breakfast even though I'm Marriott Bonvoy member

My wife and I stayed at Sheraton Fallsview hotel for two nights in April 2022. Everything went well and smooth except one thing. I was told at check-in that because I was Marriot Bonvoy member I would receive discount for breakfast. I was given a voucher and was told this voucher would be valid for two days. I didn't realize that the front desk made a mistake that one voucher was only valid for one day. So we didn't know I was charged the full price for the breakfast the second day. This was not a big deal but I felt like I was the victim of the mistake the front desk made. What was strange was that the charge for the second breakfast was not included in my hotel invoice and was charged to my credit card a few hours after I checked out. I found it several days later after I was back when I was going through my credit card statement. So I called the hotel but they said the charge was correct. I'm giving the hotel a four-start because everything else was great.

The fees are unjustifiable. I stayed 2 nights and incurred $250+ in vague fees. Estimated gov't fee (this is not HST, just a gov't fee which only exists in the Sheraton), resort fee (I thought that's why i pay the nightly room charge, but no), local gov't fee (should only be $2per/night but was $25+ per night. My favorite is the parking pricing model for self serve. I can park in the casino parking for $20 max, or i can park in the same lot as a hotel guest for $35 self park + tax +$2.77 self parking fee! Yes, a fee to park my own car, screw you Sheraton Fallsview Hotel.

Sad to say this was a major flop. My second visit to Canada and my partners first visit. We travelled here from Toronto. After a train from union station in Toronto to then get on a bus it was a really long journey, one we’d wished we had never booked. We later discovered a direct bus could have been booked with mega bus. Anyway we arrived at Niagra falls bus station which was very old and run down. The surrounding area was very old and also run down with no life to it at all. We decided to walk to this hotel. Not a great idea as it was a fair distance to walk. Thankfully we got rescued by a taxi passing by. We arrived at the Sheraton hotel and proceeded into a large foyer with no welcome. Very cold and empty entrance. We proceeded to check in and we were eventually called to the desk. Again no friendly acknowledgment or welcome. We had 2 ladies check us in called Lara & Estee. Both very rude and not friendly what so ever. No customer service at all. We had asked if possible for an upgrade as this was a special occasion to be offered upgrades a ridiculous charge per upgrade offer. Totally shocked and disgusted as if the rooms are clearly available why charge extortionate prices to guests! We had not been charged anywhere else for complimentary upgrades! We left the check in feeling totally disgusted by the service or lack of service received. The lifts were slow and somewhat frustrating with how busy they were to get to our room. We arrived at our room and it was pretty standard with nothing special at all to the interior. It had all the essentials and a view of the back of the hotel overlooking a motel and the town. The rooms were very untidy with regards to the bedding and weren’t the cleanest of rooms.

Amazing Views and Renovated Room

We had a very good experience staying at the Sheraton Fallsview. The front desk people were friendly and efficient. Our room was very nice and spacious and the view of the Falls was fantastic. We also had a Juliette balcony which we enjoyed. The only unusual thing we encountered was the lack of soap in the bathroom. I asked a maid if I could have a bar of soap and was told they don't have any. She said that we would have to use the shampoo. Never had that happen while traveling. Also curious why the modern wall mounted fireplace didn't have controls. Those were minor glitches and we really enjoyed our stay.

Cruise.Co. UK visit for 3 Nights

Stayed here for 3 nights mid May. Room 1763 is SPECTACULAR with breathtaking views to the falls. On arrival we discovered that our “ less than efficient “ cruise company- Cruise.co. uk hadn’t either booked us in or got our names right! Rossane/Roxanne? Behind reception was EXCELLENT! She bumped us up to the suite after the problem with aforementioned company. Allison & Kristie we’re also so so helpful and I so hope that management read this review and appreciate you! Don’t bother with the shop in the foyer… A nut crunch bar & a Hershey @ 11 dollars!!!! Really? It’s a rip off so don’t bother. Breakfast is good, but again cheap it ain’t but hey, your in a tourist hotspot so your gonna pay. All in all a very good hotel and would come again x
