This location never fails! Always a clean welcoming interior, accommodating staff, not to mention a VERY safe and careful shuttle ride from Tron, the driver. I travel for work and I’m so happy when this city comes up because I’m sure it’s going to be a safe pleasant stay. Thank you Marriot.

By far the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had, Marriott or not. All the reviews detailing the lack of cleanliness and age of hotel showing are accurate. Can’t wait to get home to shower again. So alarming in the age of covid!! Hotel front desk staff are wholly unaccommodating, refusing to honor benefits due even the highest status level such as the basic late check-out. Front desk staff even refused to turn on the lights in the dining room at 7:15 am, stating the area was closed, when in fact all lights had been turned on the morning before. Lights!! Come on, people. Was hoping then less than positive reviews were outliers but unfortunately not.
If you are as enior citizen,do not stay here!

Due to Covid the hotel has many restrictions. And they have obeyed them for your safety, I guess. BUT!Here is what we found -had I known earlier I would not have chosen this hotel, or at least been prepared. They give you no warning on their website. they should at least tell you about more of their restrictions. Parking is 10 dollars--you have to walk quite a ways through a walkway to get to the garage across the street. My husband has a heart condition and I just had knee treatments- it was an ordeal -and a crummy chair in the room, so couldn't even get a rest. Valet is $20--but no valet due to inability to employ one. So put your walking shoes on. NO blow dryer in bathrooom-bring your own No coffee or tea service in lobby-at least we didn't see any.Every hotel I've ever been to has at least cold water. Breakfast not included in your room price. They sort of had something-wasn't impressed.. We went out to a restaurant. Only ONE wastebasket. But not that much of an inconvenience and definitely a covid protection attempt. Only 2 paper cups, if you need one for coffee and one for pills or medication, bring your travel mug.I'd say be sure it's filed if you want ice--couldn't find where the ice machines were. no directions. Staff not helpful nor informative. Maybe they were just tired. One got a little rude. For the price, I felt strongly cheated. I am sorry we didn't look around for a better deal for this place. Room was small-but clean. clean. clean. So that much cleaning was good. Good supply of amenities. However, there were only two tea bags--could you at least get four so each of you could have a couple of cups. Same with coffee. At their prices, I would NOT recommend unless they come up with some way(s) to compensate. However, if you are a business traveler on an expense account, this hotel might work for you. But if you are retired or simply seeking value-not this place. We needed to be near the hospital because family member was very ill. But next time we'll drive the extra mile. And eat in the hospital cafe-which incidentally, was very well stocked. Coffee delicious. I think it was Starbuck's. And staff was FRIENDLY. Finally we were NOT comfortable nor rested. Al lthe inconveniences and uncomfortable chair, wore us out in a time when we were already stressed and tired. Couldn't wait to check out. I'm sticking with Hilton Honors. Sadly, this might be a sing of he tiems and times to come.
Shame on Marriott corporation and their franchisees for exploiting COVID to increase their margins

Another lousy experience in a Marriott in the last 4 months. Marriott and its franchisees are exploiting COVID to increase their margins. Marriott apparently thinks its customers are stupid and that they merrily swallow their continuing line of not enough employees. Pure condescending nonsense. here's what marriott depends on happening: people need a hotel, customers are loyal to marriott believing they will not be let down. Wrong. Was pointed to a Small amenities area that looked like it had not been supplied in weeks. Barely any food there, snack garbage. had mini ice cream containers but no spoons or any utensils anywhere to be found. Waited 10 minutes at check in desk - still not one employee in sight anywhere. Starbucks in hotel not open but is open at Hyatt. From here on out, if there is a choice in lodging for this 30 year Marriott customer, I will use the competition. You've now lost my business and no doubt many others? Shame on Marriott Corporation for treating loyal customers with such disregard. Don't start with the tired excuse of "we can't find staff" - after all this time, you are either cheating your customers or not planning ahead or not paying enough or all the above. BRING IN STAFF FROM YOUR HEADQUARTERS OR OTHER HOTELS. COVID is a pain; you beg people for business, customers come, customers are abused.
Understaffed and no food service
Reviewed 24 july, 2021
I am a gold elite member of Marriott and consistently frequent their properties. In general these properties are well run and well managed, but not this one. The hotel is severely understaffed and untrained. No food service was available and even coffee was not being offered. The room was clean, but in need of an update. During my 5 day stay I could not get hot water in my room and unfortunately, they were completely booked up and I could not get a change of room. I turned on the hot water and waited 5 minutes before the water was hot enough to shower and then after being in the shower 5 minutes, the water would cool to a tepid temperature. Several times the "engineer" tried to fix the issue, but eventually said that a plumber was needed. Other Marriott properties offer additional points when my travels have been inconvenienced, but no offers were made. Although I stayed 5 nights at the property, the room was not cleaned (per protocol should have been cleaned the 3rd day) and I had to specifically request new towels and toilet paper to be brought up. This hotel was built as a model hotel in "Uptown Normal" and the center of their renovation of the town back when I was a resident. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel anymore.
