Comfortable, clean room, but hotel didn't enforce policy on smoke-free floor.

Local hotel and casino. Staff were courteous and helpful. Rooms were cheap, clean and big. The only thing that spoiled my stay were people smoking marijuana in the room next door on the smoke-free floor. The corridor outside my room reeked of it. What is the point of having a smoke-free floor if you turn a blind eye to people smoking?

We have stayed many times at Palace Station, but due to an event downtown and higher room rates, we decided to try a different property. Room rates were good and they had a lower resort fee (should have been a clue). We arrived around 6 pm and went to check in. there was only 1 person at the front desk, and he was on the phone for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgement that we were standing there. After he finished that phone call, he picked up another line, spoke with them briefly and put them on hold again. We had reservations so check in went smoothly after the initial wait. We made our way to the room, the hallways were a little dim, and the elevator was kind of dirty. Our room was nothing like our previous stays at Palace despite Texas Station hyping their rooms on their website. The room was very basic, not very clean, and a little dilapidated feeling. We had been travelling all day, and were ready for something to eat and bed. We had originally decided to try Fatburger, but on the way decided the buffet would be good enough. We waited a few minutes to be rang up, by a not friendly cashier. Apparently it was an issue to not have cash for a tip, (noted). We could have chosed to just forgoe the tip, but she rang the card again for the tip. We were finally seated and headed for the food. We started on the taco end, got freshly prepared beef street tacos, they have a great variety of toppings and salsa. I also tried the pork carnitas which looked a little tired. The chili verde was good and the extra sauce made the carnitas edible. The first plate we got, I noticed that with the exception of the tacos, none of the food was hot. Barely lukewarm, which considering the plates were almost too warm to hold, puzzled me. Plus, we only went to that section before we went back to the table and sat down. Second trip, we walked past the pizza with a couple pieces per variety, to the BBQ section which only had kielbasa and a few sides. On to the italian where my husband got some spaghetti with meatballs. Around to the other end, I got popcorn shrimp and cocktail sauce. Oh yeah, forgot the chinese food section. We got orange chicken, pot stickers and egg roll. So this trip, we did walk to the end and back to the table, and within a few minutes of that time, pretty much all the food was cold, which shows it wasn't very hot to start with. As we walked back to the table, they had just put out a new hawaiian pizza, so I grabbed a piece. Pizza fresh from the oven was very good! The cocktail sauce on the shrimp was just awesome, perfect blend of ketchup and horseradish, might not seem like a big deal, but I like perfect cocktail sauce. Desserts were nice, small so you can sample and share. Overall, not a horrible experience but I wouldn't eat there again. Very thankful we did not get food poisoning. That was our only dining experience, we ate elsewhere for the remainder of our stay. The casino is very smoky, so we had no desire to explore or look around. After dinner, we went back to the room to go to bed and as we were picking pillows, my husband noticed makeup smeared on one of the pillows. We looked at each and pulled the covers back, afraid of what we might find, but the sheets at least appeared to have been changed. We just put that pillow on the floor.

I stayed four nights and all my interactions with staff were very positive. I arrived on a very late flight (which was delayed more) and I'm glad I called ahead of time to let them know I'd be arriving late because they said midnight is normal cutoff. but be aware, the two times I called I was put on hold for over 10 minutes. I was very happy with the breakfast buffet, which was a terrific value. the parking garage is very convenient and close to the front desk and hotel elevators. my wifi stopped working the second day so I talked to the front desk. I was told that hospitality is who takes care of that, but he went ahead and got it taken care of which I appreciated. there is a "cardio room" which consists of four machines. not much of a fitness center.

A man approached us speaking very quickly with an Italian or hispanic accent. We asked him to repeat what he was saying and he began interrogating us wanting to know if we spoke English. We explained to him we did. He then asked if our service animal, which is wearing his service dog west which has "SERVICE DOG" posted on both sides, was really a service animal. We explained to him, in English, that he is our service animal. He then stated the dog must be on a leash and the leash in my hand at all times. The animal was restrained under the table we were dining at, within close proximity and within physical view of the owner, as the owner obtained food. Unless the animal is becoming disruptive, aggressive, eating off the floor, or defecating indoors, they should be treated as a person's medical device, and not bothered. We attempted to explain to this man that there may be times when a person may have a service animal and need to place them somewhere safe, within view, so the owner can safely manage picking up food from the self serve buffet. The man said you must take the dog with you to get food and be holding the leash. We had purposely chosen a table near the food of interest to keep an eye on the very well mannered service animal. The man said if we did not keep the leash in our hand and the dog next to us while getting food we had to leave. We chose to leave and requested a full refund. The man took our receipt and 5 dollars we had left on the table, which was going to be the servers tip, and went to the register. He began speaking under his breath after which we explained to him we did not deserve this behavior and requested he refund the full $14 to our room. We immediately visited the front desk and explained what had happened and the refund to expect from the buffet. Before the incident at the buffet we had booked another two nights based on our great experience at the previous mornings breakfast buffet. Very friendly staff. Great food. Great price. Since we booked another two nights the front desk decided to lock us out of our room the next morning 3 hours prior to checkout. They then began harassing us about how we were going to pay them for our next stays deposit before we had a chance to finish our first stay and checkout. We went to Walmart to get food to avoid that guy in the buffet restaurant, to come back to find out we were locked out of our room at 8:00am. Checkout was supposed to be 11am, but they chose to lock us out early on accident, as they put it. We visited the front desk twice to find each key they gave us did not work. At approx 9am the front desk attendant said we could no longer go in our room, nor access our private belongings, nor checkout from our previous reservation till we paid for the next days reservation. This made absolutely no sense as you must check out from your previous reservation before you can check into your next one. As more valuable time passed security got involved and let us in our room. The woman security guard with the pony tail was very nice and courteous. She brought us another room key that worked, and apologized for the mistake.

Looking for a place to stay in North Las Vegas near my daughters home , I came across a Texas Station booked it because it had good room rate / resrt fees found the rooms to be nice and clean for an older hotel/ Casino . the cafe had good food. / buffet was overpriced but good ( get a player's card you'll save $7 off the price ) Overall a nice place to stay in North Las VEgas .. Will stay there again the next tine i visit family
