QUINTESSENTIAL COUNTRY CHARM
Opinión escrita el 18 de novembre de 2022
It was a real treat to stay at the Far Side Farm. The charm and warmth of this Manor House is felt as you drive down the tree-lined driveway and walk into the lamp-lit entrance and lounge, with crackling fire. The room I stayed in was beautiful and particularly well appointed with attention to all details. Ryan is an exemplary Host and attentive to the needs of his Guests. Breakfast is delicious and lovingly presented by the fabulous Chef. The ambiance of this Lodge is just what one yearns for in a Country Escape - deep couches, beautiful coffee table books, art works depicting country vistas and in the surrounds of spectacular farm land. I highly recommend this special spot. Leanne

Great place just off the N3

Excellent stopover just off the beaten track. Friendly hosts being Graham who owns it, and Ryan his son who runs the place. Great accomodation. It's a small establishment with only a few rooms. We were in room 2 with an in room bath and separate shower and toilet. Lovely comfortable bed and good quality linen and bath towels. Loved the honesty bar and common area downstairs, plus the friendly Jack Russel. Amos cooked a great breakfast and even although there was load shedding there was no disruption to service. Only negative being there weren't any good restaurants in the vicinity for dinner unless you drove all the way back to Nottingham Road.

My wife and I stayed at the Manor for 3 nights at the end of January 2021, during a more severe stage of the dreaded lockdown. The manor is marvellous. It is nestled perfectly within the Midlands Meander, surrounded by beautiful flora and rolling hills. It is located about 2km off the N3, but far enough away to be noise free. The building itself has that old English look and feel, with a stone façade and antique wooden furniture. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. Our room had a shower and a romantic ‘in-room’ bathtub. The rooms also have plenty of storage space… Something that I have come to appreciate! I hate having to live out of a suitcase and have my luggage strewn all over the room. The FarSide offers a delicious and quite customizable breakfast. My wife has quite a strange and restricted diet; and not only did they cater for her but surprised her with surprisingly delicious and healthy options. The owner, Graham, looked after us for our stay and was the perfect host. He is quite the all-rounder; so be sure to pick his brain about… well anything! For me, the special treats at the FarSide were the all-natural breakfast (even the eggs are from chickens on the property), the signature sour-dough bread and the extreme hospitality. Five green dots from us. By the way, be sure to check out Graham’s unique paintings.

We stopped over at Farside Farm on our way to the Drakensberg, stayed for one night, but would definitely have stayed longer if we knew what we know now. The room has more than enough space and together with the most beautifully decorated bathroom, everything is perfect. We were very fortunate to have had the whole house to ourselves as there were no other guests that night, so we sat in front of the huge fire place, sipping some good red wine, listening to the music that was playing in the background. The extra special treat for me personally, was the cats and dogs (I love English Pointers by the way) who were all part of the evening and cuddled up with is in front of the fire place. We would most certainly go there again, this time for longer. Thank you Ryan for your hospitality. Warm regards Louis and Bernadette Botha
