Stayed here following a business trip. Unfortunately overslept after a few drinks which is testament to the comfy bed and good hospitality. Unfortunately, it meant I was unable to sample the breakfast which a colleague of mine confirmed was delicious

Good Inn great value for money and a lush breakfast
Opinión escrita el 9 de octubre de 2022
Stayed here twice recently and found it a good honest Inn. The rooms were both clean and tidy, not huge but big enough. We didnt eat here but if breakfast was anything to go by we should have. Fresh quality food cook to order. Value for money on both occasions was fantastic happy to recomend and we will be back.

Fabulous home cooked food

We have visited this gorgeous little pub on our doorstep on several occasions but never seemed to get round to having food. Well what a terrible shame!! We turned up here late on Sunday afternoon to see what was on offer. Between the four of us we ordered 2 of the ultimate steak burgers, the steak pie and I fancied the roast beef dinner. I'm a keen home cook, one of our group a chef and the other a corporate brewery kitchen manager. The service was super quick and the food was freshly made, with proper ingredients. None of this homogenised premade / heat it up quick nonsense. I'm always dubious ordering a roast dinner as I'm often bitterly disappointed especially as I love a nice bit of beef. When my plate arrived it was the perfect portion and I was a bit worried about the thick slices of beef, whether they would take my teeth out!! I tentatively tried it and was delighted that it was soft and buttery and melted in my mouth! It actually tasted of beef! I excitedly moved on to the home prepped vegetables. Carrots that were sweet and full of flavour, cabbage that again tastes like proper cabbage you know like nanna used to make... And even the little peas - how hard is it to cook peas I often wonder but these were fresh and perfectly cooked, not that horrible olive green mush that collects in the roof of your mouth!! I was going on and on to my group how this was the best roast I'd ever tasted. I encouraged them to dip their chips in the gravy, you know the sort of gravy that has been made properly with the beef juices and leave that lovely beefy taste on your lips for ages. The mash was homemade and had those tiny little telltale lumps of potato which were curiously comforting, evidencing they were not that long ago in actual potato form! Wonderful! Can't wait to go back and try so many of the other home made dishes on the menu, so much choice and on the basis of what we had on Sunday I'm super excited!!

Clean, comfortable, very nice home cooked food

Clean room, hot shower, decent towels. Keep in mind that this is essentially a pub with rooms in an old building (floors not level, old sash windows etc) and you will not be disappointed with the room, value, service or welcome. I would stay here again. I stayed for two nights and travelled by bus from Nottingham (there's a stop close to the pub). The pub is on a little "bluff" and would not be a good choice for anyone with severe mobility issues. It does have a big car park though, perfect for park and ride using the bus. What really sets this place apart is the home cooked food served in the evenings. Nothing fancy, just good value pub food. The kitchen closes at 8 so be sure to get back in time to eat (Kimberley only has a small number of restaurants). I ate here both nights, enjoying the evening sun in the beer garden.

What a lovely find, check in easy with a nice room and pleasant staff, great local beers and good food too and well priced, breakfast was just the best and really set you up for the day. Great banter from the breakfast chef too. Easy parking around the back of the hotel.
