Awesome Location

Reviewed 20 march, 2023

Highly recommend this stay. Only a one bedroom was available for a friends trip but it was plenty of space due. Love the mini kitchen complete with oven, full-size Fridge and all the utensils /plates/cups you’d need. The location is great-easy walk to Frenchman street, French Markey and the Canal Streetcar stop.

Great place!

It is a bit loud with an active train track nearby, and it's quite a party scene on weekend nights, but this apartment is really fun and we had a blast! I'd definitely recommend! Being on Esplanade is much different than the French Quarter, but it's very close to many great restaurants and shops.

Sonder, Try to Sleep If You Can

Reviewed 11 february, 2023

First off, finding the hotel at night proved to be a task because the entrance is basically in the parking lot of the club next door. We looped around at least three times before we found it. I don't know if we scared the occupant of one of the rooms, or if they scared us when we were trying to enter the building. They happened to be in the bed with the lights on, curtains open and it didn't look like a person in the bed until they moved. We found and entered the room, but were soon brought to the truth of the situation. This was not a 2 bedroom, two bathroom room. It was a one bedroom, with a loft and two bathrooms. The bedroom only had a pocket door and a tiny closet built under the stairs, like where Harry Potter lived. The closet for the loft is actually where the washer, dryer and water heater are housed. Other than the lack of actual closets, the other disappointing factor was that there were no dressers. As a person who likes to unpack her clothing, the lack of places to put said clothing was disappointing. I did use the hangers, rod and the shelf in the water water heater closet. There is a cleaning service, but that's an additional charge. We had some issues with the room. The first night, one of the a/c units continued to beep. Luckily, we were so tired from travelling that it didn't keep us up. There was a piece of the door at the bottom that continued to drag and scrape the floor. It was very loud and concerning. We contacted maintenance and they came to look a the issues while we were out the following day. They never fixed the door, but they fixed the downstairs a/c unit, we guess. We soon figured out that the one upstairs was enough to cool the entire space. As every time maintenance came in, they turned off the units which caused the space to be extremely humid. We finally discovered that the kitchen essentials were actually inside the credenza in the hallway, as opposed to just being on top of it. There, on our last day, we finally were able to have coffee in our room. Per the confirmation email, we were warned about the local train passing through the area and the noise related to it. What we were not told is that the club next door operated from 11pm - 3am. Our room faced the parking lot, so we got to hear the music for free. It was like it was being pumped straight into the living room area. Men frequenting the club felt the need to use the bathroom in said parking lot, near our window. The club-goers also fed their hunger from the truck that would pull up. The truck housed a grill. We could look out the window and see the truck, the smoke from the grill and the line of party-goers waiting for their meal. Nor were we informed of the band that practiced in the early morning. The sounds of the tubas, drums and other instruments practicing for a few hours. It sounded like band practice was in the bathroom it was so close. Sonder was a place to lay our heads and nothing more. They should definitely warm you about the real noise as the train was the least of our worries.

Trip to NOLA

Very easy apartment to access - was quite nicely set up with everything we needed. Only issue was that it was too humid (so much moisture in the air) so it would be great if there was a dehumidifier in the unit as everything always felt a little damp.

I love the Sonder concept and pricing!

We stayed in New Orleans for a wedding and spent four nights at this property. The location was super close to the French Quarter and right in the Marigny. There is a nightclub next door (which is what you get in these neighborhoods) that goes into the wee hours of the morning. We only noticed that noise and how thin the walls of the building were on the one night we did not partake in the wild party scene of the area. The unit had good amenities and everything we needed for our time there. I love the Sonder app which is used for communication, check-in and anything else you need. The price was less than most anything in the area which was definitely appreciated. My only complaint was that we requested an early check-in because we landed early, 90 minutes early, and they approved but wanted to charge us $25. We chose to sit in a bar with our luggage instead.
