Not as good as it once was

Second time staying at NoMo Soho and it might be the last. The first time a few years ago I thought the hotel was beautiful inside and out—this time around it seems like the inside has not been kept. Carpets in the rooms are dirty, the shade in the the bathroom had lots of stains (707), the furniture/hair dryer are old. I was a bit disappointed with my overall stay. They ran out of umbrellas by mid day. I asked reception for water and they too had ran out.

The hotel rooms are old and noisy, I couldn’t find the mini fridge for like three days (it was underneath the bathroom sink). There’s an extra sales tax or vacation tax or whatever it was that I believe was $150 a day on top of the grand total. I’m here for 7 days. The room service stops at 9. Also, it’s not really room service it’s ordering to-go from the restaurant downstairs. Everytime I order, they get the order wrong. The service is terrible. The room even with all of the curtains shut is still soooo bright you can’t sleep. The doors are paper thin you can hear EVERYTHING in the hallways. The pillows and bedspreads are awful you just trust me you won’t get any sleep.
It’s beautiful, but service and experience is terrible

My best friend and I came here for a girls weekend to celebrate her birthday, I booked this hotel as a surprise to her because of how beautiful the photos were online. The service concerns started as soon as we landed in New York. When we were in transit from the airport to the hotel, I called the hotel restaurant, Nomo Kitchen, to order a pizza for us to pick up when we arrived to check in because we were starving from traveling all day. When we checked in I let the front desk know that we ordered food and asked where to pick it up, she stated that she would call down to the restaurant and have it sent to the room. We were STARVING and some time went by and our food had not arrived, I called down to the restaurant and the woman that answered the phone who stated “if someone called I would be the one to answer because I’m the only on with the phone” had then mentioned that no one called down to request our food be sent up to the room, I then gave her our room number for the pizza to be sent, and still, the food never made it to the room, we were in the room for hours getting ready and planning the rest of the day so we would have been there if it arrived. The next day I went to the front desk to make sure the charge of the food was not on my room and the woman at the front desk said “no, I show them charge was removed” so this tells me, someone realized my food never made it to us, removed the charge, and never contacted us. Not to mention this girl at the front desk never apologized! Secondly, the air conditioner was not working in our room and we were staying on the 23rd floor, it was beyond hot in there. When I asked for them to send someone up to look at it they did and they did fix it. Lastly, which is probably the thing I’m most frustrated about, I purchased A LOT of dessert to celebrate my friends birthday and put it in the fridge, days later when we went to enjoy it, I took a bite and realized it went bad. The fridge was not working or plugged in. So our dessert from the famous bakery Dominique Ansel was warm and melted as well as all of our leftover food from the weekend. Hundreds of dollars of leftovers went bad. For the price I paid for this hotel for the weekend I would expect A LOT more. The aesthetic of the hotel is not worth the experience, I’m very disappointed.
Could be better

I think this hotel, like many, is understaffed due to the current situation with the pandemic. Service was lackluster and the waters promised in the room and room service was poor. The refrigerator was not working and when I pulled it out the outlet was hanging out of the wall and definitely not up to code. Overall the hotel was fine, but not my first recommendation.

A fabulous hotel, good location, excellent service and delicious food. A good place to visit if you pass through New York.
From the reception you meet friendly people who make you feel at home. My recommendation today.
