Excellent, all round hotel with a touch of luxury

Outstanding hotel. New facility, great locations, lovely view. We found the staff was friendly, and there were all those nice Kimpton touches like s’mores in the check-in area. The on-site restaurant was impressive too, with excellent food and service. We rented two rooms, one for my wife and I and the other for our two teenage boys. Everyone agreed this hotel was good…we will stay here again when we come to Portland.

Parents Anniversary

Thank you, Adam, Michael, Richard and everyone at Kimpton Riverplace Hotel for making this a special day for my parents. It was their 32nd anniversary. They felt so welcomed since the time they walked out their car to when they checked out. They love the view, the room was beautiful. I really appreciate being able to come in early to leave them flowers and balloons. The staff was so kind and gladly assisted and accommodated me. I’m happy to recommend Kimpton to friends and family. Their service is so thoughtful and goes above-&-beyond!

Think twice before Klimpton River Place-how you treat the little guy makes all the difference in the world.

Food horrible and the night before we need to leave for our plane- unbeknownst to other customers- dining was only available in the freezing tent with ice rain. We were told to walk to a restaurant in the rice rain to another restaurant that was closed. A coffee shop with nothing but coffee and bagels was open. We had to resort to room service($$$$). The quick turnaround was not quick and we had to rush and not even finish to get to the airport. The staff was we’re almost irritated at us, not the other way around. The room was ok. The extra blanket was ragged and was not very clean. Dirty. On first blush the hotel looks ok. We were here for a close family funeral so we were teetering nonetheless. We paid for three rooms and I won’t get into how that was messed up. Still at this time. You can not tell an even poorly written book by it’s cover. We are retired with disposable income for travel. Klimpton Inn will not be on our playlist. We should have been told the breakfast place would not be opened or not close it to other patrons. They should have known that their competition was not opened and had a even small buffet for those off to catch a flight. Update. Our 20 minute tops $$$$ room service is now at least that much late. It’s really expensive as we have to rush to the airport.

Wonderful hotel and Customer Service

We stayed in the grand suite, and the room is nothing less than exceptional. Beautiful view, wonderful accommodations and a very comfortable stay. There were no corners cut! Fire place, jacuzzi soak tub, large closets very comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. We will absolutely be back for another staycation. The entire staff deserves a raise for their kindness. The icing on the cake was Adam, the front desk reception. From check in to check out he was absolutely a pleasure to meet, and work with. He was so kind and accommodating the entire stay. He went above and beyond with EVERY request, always smiled and was a genuine pleasure! If he didn't have the answer, he was willing to help us solve the problem. We will be returning! And look forward to seeing him again! We had dinner at the restaurant and our bartender Jen was awesome and made delicious drinks, with great service. The sea bass and clam chowder was phenomenal. We did NOT have a great experience with the day shift front desk, Telo. He seemed bothered by our presence and simple requests. And every experience with him left us annoyed and frustrated. He was condescending and quit rude. Such example is... we asked for a lighter or matches, and his response was that they are a smoke free building and they don't have them.... We have a fire place, how do you suggest we light it without matches or a lighter? None the less we received matches. We asked for wine glasses, and his response was "there aren't any in your room?" If I had them, I wouldn't ask for them. We went down to inform them of our intended check out time, as we get the perk of a 4pm check out, and he asked for ID to get the new cards ( as our current card would not work anymore, as it was past noon, but I did not have my wallet on me, it was in the room and the key didn't work. Please note, we had already been here 3 days, and minimal guest were in the hotel and had NUMEROUS interactions, of which he was aware of my room number and last name. ESPECIALLY considering our room was the grand suites and there is only one.... I provided him a photo of my ID despite, and he went to management to confirm he could accept a photo of my ID to get new rooms Keys. I'm not sure why he would assume I am not who I am... asking for a new room key. Seems like he just wanted to be extra for no reason and he went out of his way to be rude, and it wasn't appreciated or necessary.
