Nice people working there and dog friendly but dirty
Nice people at front dest, dog friendly, good breakfast are pros. Dirty towels in room, generally worn in common areas. Sort of bleak in general. Person on phone (Call center employee) LIED which is worst thing - saying they were full so I had to pay in full beforehand - when we got there the parking lot was 3/4 empty - there was clearly hardly anyone there. Very bright lights all around building that get into the room despite black out curtains. I dont know why this has so many stars on trip advisor - they should look over recent reviews and adjust the stars accordingly.
Birthday Getaway
Went to Hollywood Casino for my daughters birthday. She booked a fairly nearby hotel (Sleep Inn & Suites in Oregon, Ohio) for overnight accommodations. It had good reviews from people online so she figured we were safe. Nope! It was not a clean facility. Extremely poor maintenance i.e...entryway was dirty, carpets stained throughout the motel, water on the floor from broken machine, and our room looked used and the TV was broken. The girl behind the desk had to leave her position, only one there, came up to our room, saw we were right and moved us across the hall. The new room was not much cleaner but the kicker, ants were crawling in the bathroom and the sleeping area! I even took a video. This is a motel that needs a complete overhaul. We did not eat breakfast there because it just looked dirty.
MESSED UP FROM THE MOMENT WE GOT TO HOTEL
Made thiis reservation at least a couple months ago. Requested adjoining rooms and rooms close together.. I was never told it was "first come, first served" basis. First we had four rooms on our original reservation. and we dIvided the cost by the number of people. We had to pay room by room which messed it up but I made it right in the end. Rooms were dirty. The closet in the suite we had had the dirtiest doors I have seen. There was dirt along the walls in every room we had. The smoke smell in the hotel was awful especially in room 105. The carpet in the hall was torn and I tripped over it a couple times. My sisters room had broken titems and no one fixed them while we were there. The pool was so bad you couldn't see the bottom and the room the pool was in was way too hot. The breakfast buffet was okay and the one lady that worked there was super nice. The one lady at the desk was super nice but the blong on the Saturday evening and Sunday was NOT very nice. She was too busy on her phone. The location was good but it sure needs some work. Would not stay there again.
Girls weekend getaway
My sister booked the rooms for our group, 5 rooms in all. Seemed to be rated ok and close to where we wanted to be for our girls weekend. Has a pool and a breakfast, so we were all said ok! The hotel is in a decent area, next to a newer Meijer store, Applebees and a hospital...looks ok from the outside. The lobby area is ok. Hotel desk staff, Heather, was great to work with, friendly and nice. The rooms however leave a bit to be desired. Not clean at all, dusty and actually dirty. Our comforters were stained, sink rusty, carpet atrocious...you leave your shoes on all the time!!! Not impressed at all. My sister and I shared a room and our phone didn't work nor did our alarm clock. Staff looked at it and said that it was "a problem in the wall" and that they'd get it fixed. Never saw anyone the whole time we were there. The pool was hazy and not clean, it was about 120 degrees in the pool area....we decided not to use it. The breakfast staff was nice and the food was ok, nothing to write home about. We had to ask to get a table cleaned off for us. Absolutely will not stay there again unless this place gets a complete overhaul. We've stayed at other Sleep Inns and NEVER had one like this.
Decent Hotel, but Pool not Okay
The hotel appeared to be in a safe area. It was nestled into a property with a hospital and a Meijer store. The room was clean and the price of the stay was right. There were fireplaces at the entry/exit of the elevators. Very nice and welcoming. We chose this hotel because it had good reviews and we wanted a pool because my teenage kids love to swim. After our arrival, we changed and went to the pool. There was one other family in the pool and I noticed right away that the whole pool looked yellow and foggy. The other dad in the pool said he questioned the front desk about the condition of the pool and they said the coloring was from too much chlorine that morning. My son refused to get in. The rest of us did, but no one put our head under the water. Even in the shallow end I couldn’t see my feet due to the yellow cloudiness. The next day the pool never opened before checkout time. The breakfast was fine, but not a full breakfast: two cereals, jnstant oatmeal, yogurt, mini muffins, eggs, sausage, and make your own waffles. Definitely adequate. I liked that the sink was in the room seperate from the toilet and shower, but there was a sliding door that didn’t lock. If I had small kids, they surely would have whipped that door open and would have seen too much.
